  1. use a willans at work, which i dont really get on with, but have a Komet butterfly 2 at home which i much prefer, although i suppose that is old technology now, not particularly light but i could sit in it forever.
  2. if you are in a rural area you could do worse than try parish news letters, usually cheap and you can target areas where you want to work...
  3. was hoping i might find time to come along to this, but ive gone and bust my right scaphoid on a tree, so climbing is out for a while, and probably even driving! Kev.
  4. love the big Castinea sativa. bark spirals, great leaves, useful timber and food as an extra. Has to be the massive ones though, also from an ammenity viewpoint, Betula jaqmontii, all depends on location though i suppose....
  5. congrats.... have a good one
  6. pm sent thank you.
  7. most fruit wood is pretty good so it should be ok. try a bit yourself and see....
  8. and a few more.....
  9. a few random pics.
  10. just a few random shots from a holiday down south a couple of years ago. large beech with cool roots is at avebury if i remember correctly and the other 2 are in westonbirt.
  11. had a go at the newark show a few years ago, first time i had worn spikes, nightmare, took me about 5 mins, royal marine sergeant tried it and gave up..... very hard work if you are new to the techniques.
  12. i have a project 90 on the road, not meant to be a project, but always needs something doing....
  13. i use a vertex vent without problems, guess it depends on where you tie your pony tail.... experiment!
  14. who won????
  15. yeah, i guess i could tuck mine into my harness if i tried, dont have any probs cos its always tied back at work. not had it cut since 1993 and that was just cos i liked the look of the girl in a hairdressers in Sligo when i walked past drunk. beard is also about 4" and not had probs with that yet. i do carry a knife at all times just in case though.
  16. might be time to rip out the 20 Tdi and go for the 4.6 V8 ive always wanted !!!!
  17. if you havent already got it, consider a trailer towing test cos there are fewer people around who can tow these days. out of 6 in our team, only 2 can tow.
  18. I am not that stupid, I make the dog carry it!!!!
  19. 37% seems very high... must invest in a meter myself, thought my firewood season was over for the year, but just picked up an order for 2 cube bags while out walking the dog this afternoon.
  20. our local one is below, but possibly too far for you, but the website below that has a few listed which may be worth checking out. The Saw Point Ltd Old Wood North, Skellingthorpe, Lincoln, Lincolnshire LN6 5UA Tel: 01522 691699 http://www.sdauk.co.uk/membersites.asp
  21. we do the smoke a couple of weekends a year, usually include a theatre visit along with other attractions... most of the museums are free entry, kew is worth a visit, avoid mme tussauds.... very expensive (27 a head) and frankly not worth it. we are tight so we use travel lodge near heathrow for the free parking, and bus and tube into the centre. only use the room for 6 hrs a night and out sight seeing the rest of the time. also enjoy scottish countryside but would only really do that if i had a week or more available.
  22. mine came this morning too.... great olde worlde piccies...
  23. not a lot though cos the current bid is only a tenner.... it says it has come to the end of its natural life, so does that mean it is dead???
  24. zubat 330 and little orange spatha for me. small spatha has serated portion to blade while bigger one doesnt. will get big one as extra when i get round to it though, mainly cos i like knives.... bit of a collector.
