  1. hi, just been asked to spread the word about a new digital 4x4 magazine from another forum i frequent! http://www.difflock.com/magazine give it a look, maybe something to interest you in there... Kev.
  2. I wear plugs at small club gigs, I find it helps with converstaion the next few days, and also with the drive home afterwards. I havent yet had a problem at bigger venues, i suspect it is the music that has affected my hearing (and 20 years of landrover driving) over the years though rather than anything else. I saw blind melon support guns and roses many years ago, one of the worst bands i have seen. i ignored most of the set, thinking it was some roadies tuning up!!!
  3. dont they all fall into the same category any way????? scum!!!!!
  4. a few years ago, while a student i did the pole climb atb newark show. it was my first time on spikes and it took me about 5 mins for the 25 metres, i dont mind admitting i was well knackered when i got to the top. there was a guy competing who was in his early 70s i think, and it took him 45 seconds, not only that but he was a really nice bloke too. when the other climbers had gone, he hung around to encourage me to the top. (i wasnt competing by the way, just fancied a go!). this was about five years ago, so i was in my early 30s. I am now coming up to 38 and have only just started climbing full time so please dont put me off by talking about getting old!!!!!
  5. Next weeks 5th Gear has a feature on Mogs if anyone is interested. Monday night 20.00 to 21.00 ch5. Kev.
  6. cant find any reference to this on their website, does anyone have a link to the info???
  7. I went to see Foo Fighters late last year. Over the years I have seen hundreds of bands (thats where most of my money goes....music in one form or another), some good and some down right awfull.... They were one of the top 5 concert experiences I have ever witnessed... much better live than on cd. I am also a fan of Ryan Adams, having most of his albums, but unfortunately have never seen him live. He is great for those mellow, chill out moments, but also great lyrics. The album he did as a member of Whiskeytown is also fantastic.

  10. comparative gear reviews would be great, Trail magazine runs them on walking kit, giving marks for different features and giving a total score, along with pros and cons for each model tested, this makes buying kit quite easy despite a vast choice!
  11. found 2 six inch nails yesterday, well inside the timber, no wonder it wasnt cutting well. Some years ago I was helping on a fell of a very old willow, the days work was stopped when we hit an old ceramic fence insulator over a foot into the trunk.
  12. I suppose that this may be no more harmful to the tree (with certain species) and maybe even better than traditional cuts. It is not a new technique to split timber (oak and sweet chestnut) rather than saw them to extend their useful life. cuts and breaks that run with the grain are surely harder to penetrate than those which leave an open end-grain??????
  13. In this situation, i would work out what needs to be done, and when, then treat all as seperate jobs for the purpose of pricing, taking into account inflation as you suggest, although 10% may be a little steep, it will cover what you need.

    Urgent!

to call these "people" feral scum, is to suggest that their actions are some kind of natural, instinctive behaviour, which is clearly wrong, they are in fact out of control, wastes of oxygen who should be controlled at all costs!
  15. gear cross over and multi-discipline is the way forward!!!
  16. I had to put reductions, but 2 months ago, it would have been planting at 500 whips a day. Kev

    Urgent!

the same could be said for kitchen knives, baseball bats, and any number of everyday items, many people simply use air rifles for target shooting on ranges. I dont beleive it is right to deny innocent people their hobbies, just because a minority of the population are idiots. Toughen up on crims instead, cut of their hands a la middle east, hang them, whatever it takes to act as a deterent. Kev.
  18. just a quick question, what do you guys wear when climbing, particularly upper body? I have been issued with company uniform, but as an experienced outdoor person in several disciplines, i find the combo of polo and sweat shirts sadly lacking. when undertaking private work, i stick to my usual outdoor gear (micro fleece etc) but this is not possible in the day job. Kev.
  19. interesting one this.... not something i have any experience of... on a similar note, what happens about leaf loss and regrowth on decidous species??? do they have seasons or does it vary from tree to tree???
  20. just noticed that the scrolling banner for the raffle is only reading 710 quid, dont know if that is important to you!!
  21. thanks for that steve, hope the money raised is of help to the kids
  22. thats a relief, thought it was just me..... did i miss anything??
  23. aaargh.... its died and i cant get in to see what i win....
  24. passed a camera van just checking tax discs the other night with the trailer behind the 90 and that was bad enough. as mentioned, you start to doubt your self and vehicle.
  25. cant watch grand designs, clashes with torchwood!!
