  1. I am on the district team, overseeing the five units we have in the Lincoln area (almost 100 explorer scouts) so I dont directly run any of them, but get involved in any activities that bring all 5 units together, as well as looking after the camp store for all of them, and also being heavily involved in our district mountain activity team, which runs walking, climbing, bouldering and mountain biking activities for all scout age groups in the district and also many countywide events.
  2. its amazing how many people think we get paid, but it is purely voluntary, there is occasionally a chance to claim some expenses but most (myself included never bother). Even some of the kids parents think we are paid, but god knows where they think the money comes from on what they pay each month! i think it might detract from the enjoyment and make it seem more like a job if payment was involved, besides, i am still a kid at heart anyway.
  3. gotta go out and check up on one of my explorer scout units tonight, scouts takes a lot of my time, concert going / music takes loads and off roading in the landy when i get chance....

  6. first is my landrover taken from a mewp used on a rotten oak in my village church yard, second is the same landy towing our scout climbing wall and the third is a scout gangshow spoof of the queen vid for i want to break free that i was involved in a couple of years ago (i am school girl in middle!)
  7. just wondered if it would be practical to have a section for forum members to post any services they may offer (keep it clean please, i know how your minds work), such as loler inspections, splicing etc. if these were posted with rough locations, members could then pm people to arrange use of these services.... what do you all think???? Kev.
  8. sorry to hear that 18stoner, i am on the lookout for 3 new doors for my 90, but havent found any i can afford yet. Try this place for replacements, i have had a few bits from them and they always seem reasonably priced. http://www.amazon4x4.com/ Kev.

  14. most are treated with creosote in the uk, but an increasing number now are using cca treatment (copper, chrome, arsenic) the same as fencing materials. When at college we had a trip round a plant at boston where they are produced, ford countys pulling massive trailers of poles around the site... very impressive
  15. obviously doesnt eat chicken though!

  20. use them a fair bit (telescopic silky), also sometimes useful to get your climbing line over a branch to access a tree when there is a lot of growth deflecting throw bag!
  21. thought it might be of interest http://www.unimog-trucks.eu/webspecial_u20/new-small-unimog/index.html

  23. I am fairly new to this game myself, having done a ND a few years ago. In my area there are very few people who have done ND or NC, I dont know how that reflects over the rest of the country. I was in the fortunate position of having a well paid wife so 2 years out wasnt too much of a problem. The NPTC courses are not cheap, but all trainers and assessors I have come across are helpful, and you may learn more than just the core sylabus. You could see if your current employer would help with costs, it is to their benefit afterall. I am also looking for further qualifications, but find I am learning lots of practical stuff at the moment having just found a full time climbers post (previously doing sporadic tree work for a landscape firm).
  24. I know what you are saying, i am getting fed up of reading 4 articles about the same vehicle every month. (4 different landrover monthlies for the non believers). The difflock forum is also well worth a visit, sub forums to cover most makes of 4x4 and very speedy responses to any technical questions. Mogs even have their own section. They also have a shop selling oils, tools and accessories. freindly bunch too... all will be made welcome, but they do like to see pictures of your rides though.
  25. workin ok for me, looks like a decent day tomorrow.
