  3. the trees are in 2m tree pits filled with tree sand, underground guys on the rootballs using platypus anchors, topped with porous bonded resin. the pics were taken a year after planting... there were also hundreds of other standards planted along with a few thousand whips and shrubs, and a few thousand aquatic plants in two ponds which had to be planned in at a late stage to accomodate the local newt population.

  10. If they carried a rear corner each while jogging, you could get more chip in :-)
  11. Looks like a handy bit of kit that. If only I had the cash. It would need an o licence though wouldn't it?
  12. I've done a fair bit of mowing with various different brands of large walk behinds, mostly flails though... the ferris was one of the best, but also worth a look, if they do a rotary deck, is the aebi.... that ferris doesn't look like its been overworked though so could be a good buy at that price.

  15. I've done a bit over the years, did some kayaking in scouts, and still do occasionally, white water, flat, coastal and lakes... spent 3 weeks in a sea kayak of the coast of Chile in 1995, heading to the San Rafael glacier. Early 90's i paddled a catamaran in races, we were british champs for a couple of years. Also built and paddled my own coracle, ending with a source to sea trip on the Teifi in wales, raising a couple of grand for cancer research.

  21. If you were to use a 3way tipper, but lose the traditional rear tip, shorten the tipper body and have it tipping to either side. could a dogleg be put in the rear chassis dumbirons to create a lower chip position?? or even convert a tail lift to give a work position and travel position??

    Box wood?

box wood is also liked by lead roofers, apparently they make their hammers from it which they use to shape and fold the lead. it is quite hard to get hole of and a mate of mine who used to work on the roof of lincoln catherdral, had to travel almost to buxton to source the wood for his tools.
  23. While i like the idea of a hi-cap tipper, i don't like the way the tub sits a couple of inches higher than it should.. the hi-cap isn't a model i am familiar with... could the sides of the tub be bonded to a better tipper body to retain the correct lines and appearance?
