  1. He was breaking the law as in this case the law is an ass. Someone with a post 97 licence cannot tow an empty trailer rated to carry more than 750kg even if it weighs less than 750kg as they have the potential to go pick up a load taking them over there licenced permission (unless they have done the trailer test). The same applies with vehicles, it is the plated weights that count not what is actually on it, unless what is on it is over the plated weight
  2. I think you can delete the word big from the above statement
  3. That's why it's taking 6 months to sort. The quarantine area for Plippy needs a new level in security. Good luck with the move
  4. What sort of a muppet would do that???:blushing: That just about summed that week up!!
  5. clarks cut and climb seems especially good when its warm and wet. Doesn't let the water through and is breathable so you arent sweaty all the time
  6. Thats a big concrete storage tank, a few thousand gallons I expect. No where near the capacity of Robs chip box!!
  7. After a brief period of absence from the group I wish to reapply for admission. Just picked up this 2005 110 county xs. It's had a TD5 Alive remap which makes a hell of a difference and seems to improve fuel economy. Kev
  8. Non folding silky, straight or curved is personal preference. There are a lot of people imitating the silky, in my experience non are up to the standard of proper silkys
  9. I'll be there camping, registration for shiny things done
  10. cos you couldn't be bothered to help them with it???:001_tt2:
  11. As above, about 10 tanks through the 201 now and the chain tension issue has disappeared. Not had a chance to take the cover off to see what might have worn down to free the chain up but I will before long. Power delivery is different but there is a bit more there and with the new chains makes a big difference. Don't like the new scabbards, still not sure what that is all about and the raised fastener for the air filter cover is waiting to be broken off I would buy another though
  12. On a 200/201 the exhaust is on the right of the saw, unless you have the saw upside down or cutting next to your aris then the exhaust will always be away from your leg. Unless you are cutting on your left when the exhaust is against your leg hence the need for the nomex on the left leg
  13. I've got a pair, very nice fit but bloody warm. The heat proof bit needs to be on the other leg aswell, unless you like to operate the saw upside down!!
  14. I did the same on a fencing job, spoke to the wrong person at the saw mill to price the materials and they short quoted it. I took the hit, it still paid a wage just no profit on top. The customer was aware of the mistake and the fact it was the sawmills fault and offered to pay the deficit. It was my fault for not double checking the order/speaking to the boss so I told the customer I would absorb it. He has since passed on my details and got me a couple of jobs worth more than the loss in profits so I am happy. Provided it isn't costing you money to do the work, suck it up, live and learn and add a few quid on the next couple of jobs to cover the loss. You win some, you lose some. How much is your reputation worth?
  15. It looks like skyhuck answered most of my post before I got chance to post it
  16. Are you sure you can claim back the vat when vat in it's own right has not been charged? If I as non vat registered buy a brand new pickup I have to pay the vat in full and cannot claim it back. If I later sell it I will sell it at a price inclusive of vat e.g. £12k, not £10k+vat. Can you as vat registered claim back the vat even though it isn't specifically detailed? Would you then sell it on at £xk + vat? I was alway under the impression (from motor trade friends) that once a vehicle had lost it's +vat status it could not get it back
  17. Bacs free, in fact all electronic transfers in and out are free and unlimited Cheques are limited to max 20 per month free and cash is charged at 1.5% in or out
  18. well done, now stop being a bloody student and get a job!!!
  19. Nick, You see those 2 kids in your Avatar - they want to see you not just big piles of cash and loads of toys. Working 15, 18, 20 hours a day is great for the bank balance but what do you plan on spending it on. You can't buy the time back. I used to work a shift job and run the tree business on my days off. I would swap shifts so i could work the weekend at the factory and weekdays on the trees. The money was great but after having kids packed in the factory and took a massive pay cut but the kids get to spend plenty of time with me. I earn enough and the balance is great. Kev
  20. More and more of my customers are paying by BACS, if nothing else it saves them the cost of a stamp to post the cheque. Even some of the older generations are paying BACS via the post office when they draw their pensions, I put the account number and sort codes on all invoices so it is easy. More than half of my customers are not in when we work and usually don't see me after I have quoted the work so it is trust that they will pay. It isn't as if we can take back what we have done. I spend enough on fuel pricing work and getting to the job to do the work. I don't want to have to spend more on fuel to pick up cash
  21. Carrs were not the cheapest. 2 other retailers at the AA were cheaper even if it was only a few quid
