Rob, Regardless of the total train weight you can't go over on what the truck says I.e. 3210kg. Your license just means that regardless of what vehicle you are driving you can't pull a trailer capable of weighing more than 750kg full. You can't even pull an empty trailer capable of carrying 2000kg even if it weighs less than 750kg empty. Your axle weights need to add up to at least the 3210kg assuming you have got the right figure for total truck weight limit otherwise you could never fill the van to it's read limit as one or both axles would be over their limits. There should be 4 numbers on the vin plate Max vehicle Max vehicle+trailer Front axle Back axle Front +back usually = max vehicle It could well be your navara is rated at 2700kg gross vehicle weight

You need to go with no trailer and just put the back axle on If you have a rear axle allowance of 1100kg the trailer will exert say 40kg (easy to measure with a bit of wood and your bathroom scales) you had 560kg of chip in there leaving you only 500kg for the back of the truck. I seem to remember on my d22 you could have 1000kg in the back so that 1100kg figure doesn't seem right. Rear axle limit was over 2000kg I am sure You total train weight can't just be added together and spread where you like, you might need to carry all your kit on the trailer when coming back from jobs to allow you a bit more weight capacity in the truck for chip

Newer model defenders are usually down on power/tunability compared to the outgoing model due to euro emission regulations. Defenders aren't bought for improved aesthetics or comfort like most road going cars they are bought to work and gagging the engines, making them less DIY or less durable to meet eu legislation does not do the sales of new models any favours

When I had my navara years ago I ran with a truck man high top on and filled that. It was less than a foot above the cab roof height and when full the back end was on the bump stops. However with the truck man top you cold shut the back window and no one could see what was in it.

I can cross cut and split 2 loads in an easy day, this sells for the same price as I charge for a days tree work. I only use the arisings from my tree work so doing logs means I can earn a wage on wet days. It is labour intensive but there is money in it, not buckets full but enough to pay a presentable wage or at least prevent the weather denting the wage we make from tree work.

There is only so far an accountant can go and at the end of the day we are all working to have money to spend on living a good life. I spend on the business what is necessary and the rest I spend on the essentials of living and enjoying myself with my family. Anything none business related is subject to tax. Big tax bill means big bucks as disposable income.

When I bought my 130 it had a hiab fitted. I have since removed it as it reduced the payload too much and was in the way of the tipper conversion. There was no tacho or operator license required. My landie is ex Severn Trent water I have pictures on my other computer if you want to see some

According to my accountant occasional workers can be paid cash with out a paper trail for tax once maybe twice a year, any more and it needs sorting officially either as a direct employee or you need to get an invoice/ receipt from them showing they are registered self employed, you also need to be satisfied they are paying the tax. Your definition of cash in hand obviously differs from mine, I pay my subbies in cash where I can but get an invoice/receipt. This is not cash in hand work by the definition I understand (I.e. Evading tax by not recording the fact cash has been paid for work done). H&S needs formally recording when a company employs more than 5 people, a talk through in the van on the way to a job is not sufficient to comply with risk assessments etc for a 5+ man company. Also you need employee liability insurance to employ anyone even on a casual basis. If Joe bloggs from down the pub is working for you cash in hand whilst still claiming the dole cuts himself with the modified processor which government department will get the first go at bankrupting you?
