  1. I've got a Warn XD9000i on the defender. 3175kg line pull. It has been used to pull a few trees over and a few tree surgeons out of the mud. It was on the landy when I bought it and has proved useful.
  2. With regards to the price, I am sure you could just do the test and not attend the training course if you feel you are able to complete all of the items on the assessment schedule. If you have been using saws for a while and haven't picked up bad habits then certainly the 30/31 would be a breeze after reading the assessment schedules, 38/39 might be a bit more tricky if old habits creep in or you arent familiar with the rescue techniques. Where are you based? There are a couple of NPTC examiners/trainers on here that are near to TK Forestry that you could probably talk to.
  3. If I am right on it's location (Mill Moor Road) then i looked at that tree last year along with a few other companies (he asked for three quotes I think) and no one would do it. Like you say if it could be climbed and dropped in bits it wouldn't be too much of an issue, it's the loading while rigging it and the number of targets.
  4. £21 and a penny - go steady you are bidding against a Yorkshireman
  5. Going to the US in a few weeks, might have to make space in the case for an ipad2
  6. I'll only object if you beat me to something I want . I already have a firewood listing so no complaints from me on this one.
  7. No difference in the gas canisters in the packs of 51 ring and 90 standard nails I bought, you can also buy replacement gas and I don't remember having to specify what nails I would be firing. Brake cleaner is what you need to clean it although the proper paslode aerosol is only about £6 a can, don't use nail varnish remover as it has moisturiser in as well as the acetone which will gunge up the mechanisms Proper paslode 'o' rings are about 3 quid from a paslode dealer, it's hardly worth the effort of trying to guess what size copy part you would need. Just add a tenner to every nail gunning job and you have the funds for a clean and new 'o' ring.
  8. ....and it works, I have had a good few calls since it's launch that I know are via the directory. It's a real shame I have sold out!!
  9. I know it's had 10k on the new engine but how many miles on the rest of it?
  10. Year, mileage, how much can it LEGALLY carry without over loading the rear axle?
  11. My defender 130 tipper has gone up from £403 to £526 with NFU
  12. I tell the customer the application cost is £30 if the job is given to another company, free if I get the work
  13. I've got the mickey thompson Baja MTZ's on mine, not been stuck yet and had it axle deep a few times.
  14. The design hasn't but has the origin and quality of the steel?
  15. Seen on another forum Land Rover chassis failures | News | Vertikal.net
  16. It's amazing how uneconomical a saw is when logging up, plus it gets through loads of chains, files, etc where the surgery ones never need sharpening
  17. Go Ltd on the logs and VAT register at the same time for the 5% sell and 20% buy
  18. Split the log business from the tree surgery business, buy the logs from the tree business to increase your outgoings. You would need to dedicate kit to each business, i.e 1 saw and the splitter, processor, tractor, etc.
  19. Used Morrisons fuel 95% of the time with no issues.
  20. Got it finished and home by half 3, there was a piece of angle iron in the main stem which has killed the 460, 440 and stumpy. A weekend of sharpening for me.

  21. It's not that expensive if caught early. The loom for the injectors sits within the rocker cover and a design fault means the seals fail and oil runs down the loom into the ecu. A new loom section is about £35 and takes 30 minutes to change. Also a known issue is the fuel pressure regulator, google the discovery2 site, there is a workshop section which lists some known issues with the TD5 engine
  22. try google Steve, I am not sure the forum owner would like me to post the alternative name of March 14th here
