  1. can you swap the full bodies and sell the old one as a drop side?
  2. No damson gin this year (Hic!!) so I will donate 2 x Stihl LED torches which will be dispatched via Justin at FR Jones
  3. But he didn't ask for the area?????
  4. 390 Pythagorus therum 80 squared - 20 squared = the distance from the point of the triangle to half way along the 40 meter length = 77.46m (approx 78m) Now calculate the number of trees in a 78m line = 39 trees and there would be 10 lines in a 20m rectangle giving 390 trees in total
  5. miserable sods
  6. send treequip a message. He said he knows someone selling one
  7. go to the tip and ask them for one out of the cages. Thats what I did at Meltham tip and they were happy to oblige
  8. logs to firewood, good chip to store at my yard then to biomass, bad chip/clippings/sweepings to a different pile which the biomass people will also collect for closed land fill site toppings or compost. There is no waste
  9. that 2nd one is brilliant!!
  10. I got a mint condition 20ft one for £800 delivered, I was told it would be the same price for a 40ft. There always seem to be used ones on ebay.
  11. Iain, Is it really illegal or is it against HSE best practise? Illegal would suggest an arrestable offence. Is it also stated that certification is required or is it suitable training (which I know usually leads to certification)? I know Stihl have recommended that CS38 is present to buy a 200T as it is an easy paper trail for proof of competence but is in house training not good enough? I know Iain (amongst others on here) is an NPTC assessor so knows what is required to pass the various CS qualifications, does he however have to pay the NPTC fees for the bit of paper for all his staff or can he have an in house training program to the same standard? Would Stihl accept this as suitability to purchase a 200T and would this stand up to the HSE should an accident occur? I know it would be easier to just get the CS/NPTC paperwork but is it just money for the sake of it? Playing devils advocate here so lets not have the slatings please. Kev
  12. and the tyres on my car are rated at 140+mph, doesn't mean i am allowed to do that though. It was just an observation. I have seen a similar trailer with a slide mechanism so the crane could be slid over the axles for the journey home
  13. When you have done your deliveries and are running home empty there is an extra 200ish kg between the front wheels and hitch. Most vehicles have a max vertical hitch load of 100kg. Are you telling me you are within these limits?
  14. Is that trailer legal to tow behind a standard 4x4/truck due to it's nose weight?
  15. Nick, You need to live further north. I am looking for 1 or 2 loads but I am up near Manchester
  16. If you feel you are flogging the CS100 then get a bigger chipper but not massive unless you need massive. Would a 6" or 7.5" be enough? If you do go for a chipper does it need to be tracked or could you cope with a tow behind? Do you need a 4x4 tipper or could you cope with a transit tipper? As has been said above, buy kit that you have the work for now or in the very near future. There is no point in buying a 12" chipper that is going to cost you loads extra to run, tow around and maintain just because it looks good and you feel you need to spend some money when a 6" would do the work you have. With regards to employment, are you at the point where you need someone full time. I know you said use a 0 hours contract but are you sure that will work.
  17. this is nearly as bad as the customer that rings up to say how much to chop my tree down? Anywhere from £10 per hour for 1 man with saw and trailer to a few hundred for a big crew with mog/crane/god know what other kit. Price the job based on the tree. What takes you three days could take someone else 2 hours
  18. Should we renaome this thread Ed's Landy blog
  19. Moved house 3 weeks ago , chimney swept the day after we moved in and stove on every day. 200 year old house with 18" thick walls that has been empty for 12 months is taking a bit of warming through. Severa stove with back boiler seems to ensure the gas boiler stays off.
  20. Had a neighbour of a customer having a real go today calling me a rip off merchant for selling soaking wet wood as I was tipping off. Once they took a breath I managed to tell them that this customer has been buying 3 loads a year from me for the past 4 years and buys unseasoned to save himself money as he has the space to dry it himself. No apology but she went off rather quiet.
  21. this one was a turbo technics, stupid quick, 6 seconds to 60, 12 and a bit second 1/4 mile and an absolute dustbin for money
  22. This one was fun on track too, rear wheel drive
  23. This is how the 309's should be Had this one for nearly 4 years. 200,000 miles on it Or on track Bought the black one on eBay as a non runner for less than £500, got it running using an old relay I had in the tool box (known fault). Stripped the interior and sold it all on eBay for £600, flogged it's backside on various track days then sold it for a grand. Wish that happened on all cars
