  1. A 560 in a box of bits , quite interesting seeing how they work !
  2. My bad I should of read the title of this thread as I thought it was purely about bio oil! I got a load of this for trial but never used it.. I think there's some still in the workshop. Interested to hear more views on it though.
  3. Never had that problem with chains sticking, I have been mixing normal bio with rapeseed oil though so it still has some tacking agent and the results on long bars have not been too good, lots of heat and chain stretch , if it was pure rape seed I image the problem worse but it could be an oil issue on the 395.
  4. Very nicely done.
  5. Chain reel arrived 24 hours after ordering , thanks f.r jones and son for the great service. Mat.
  6. I'm all for the cluttered look then especially on sycamore , better than a load of epicormic buds shooting out because there's not enough foliage and plenty of new light hitting dormant buds and exploding a load more for good measure. But that's my opinion think you did a very good job Alex's advice on the one third rule is spot on.
  7. Schliesing is what you want ... No contest in comparison to any thing else. I am quite happy with a tw 150 the ford mondeo of the chipper world, it has a good out put, performs well ,cheap and parts are very readily available.
  8. 395 noticeably has more power .. I sold a 288 as I stopped using it when I got the 395. The 288 was superseded by the 390. If it was solely for in tree use though I would possibly choose the 390.
  9. Give me a 560 any day of the week , mines over 2 now, used hard and has had one fault that spud fixed for under £50 and it still never stops impressing me the power it punches.. Don't own a 362 but have nearly fallen asleep but frustration kept me awake on the ones I have used.
  10. Sprocket or solid nose bars?? One has a sprocket and in turn does not sap as much power as a solid nose, very rare to come across solid nose bars these days though unless on very big bars on carving bars.
  11. Value for money and well thought out but the cheaper type are definitely are no stretch airs but at the price you can not complain ,had mine 3-4 months but they lack flex. The most expensive pair they do I feel would be a lot better and that's only another 20 quid.
  12. And its a week out of warranty !
  13. Interested to hear about the main gasket as mine went today.
  14. Shame its 357's and not 560's mate !
  15. How often Dave ? I can honestly say I've never felt the need or gaffed out because I felt they where not sharp.
  16. 540's good mark ... Better than a 200 IMO any way.
  17. Really good dry !

    my 201t utter

Chains too tight and it's not a 540xp ... I had a carving bar on the old 200 and have just swapped it back for a 12" and put it against the 540 in the log stack last night ...the 540 destroys the 200t
  19. Have owned 4 sets of different spikes and never sharpened any of them .. Should not be a problem??
  20. The thing I find is climbing on a vt with rope guide I dont break a sweat to pull my self up and around a tree.. I try the same with SRT and working off a rope wrench and I end up a sweaty knackered mess... Maybe its to late for me to change but I would like to compare the two in a work climb with you one day Adam.
  21. I got the rope wrench ! I stick with that but may give you a shout on that tommy.
  22. Dropped a big dead chestnut first thing then winched over and skidded out some beech in the afternoon... Had a test out on a mates schliesing and came back to Mikey sparko on a beech stick.
  23. Aghhh I get it now there was no link when I first viewed.. I think I may have come to a similar conclusion drunk once about DRT being safer because I'm crap at SRT and only use it for access, have tried work climbing on it a few times and it was not really working for me, I would like to see dan Curtis or some one who knows what they are really doing on it climb to give me an idea on what I'm supposed to do, maybe I will stick with it for a week and see what happens as I said and did the same about climbing on a vt and now I won't climb on anything else...
  24. Adam I'm lost ??
