  1. Lasted about 18 hours , Stressed and smoking more than ever at the minute and feel crap for it .. I always like joe enjoyed it but the girl friends has just given up and We have another family member about to go to lung cancer 4th in 5 years so I think a trip in too town and try another e fag just to try and ween us off.
  2. Hi joe I don't use that method so can't help ... I'm not fully understanding what is going on in that photo so would be intrigued if your self or any one else could explain it as it looks interesting , links to you tube would be great ! Have you tried the alpine and pulley retrievable system ? That works well for me as long as there is a clear retrieve route with both tales together.
  3. It's really good to see a vid of yourself talking through your thoughts of what your doing and why ... That locations stunning as well.
  4. Tree stuff?? Have a lot of spares for wrenches not sure on the mk1 though
  5. Nice work ... The more you do the easier it gets to see a line to follow with the curves and tree shape , the tree you have done looked a partially difficult one as well as your not taking the same uniform amount off all over to make a balanced tree... Also if your asking your grounds people if a bit is sticking out it usually is!
  6. It's going well mate .... It's a madder than a standard one for sure, compressions up , just replaced another starter housing as its chewed one up again.
  7. We switched to all stihl back then after getting a years service out of 262's,266's and not a good life out of a 3120 switching to 340's 460's 066 and 088 seemed and was the best thing to do... I also think back then there was a lot more hand cutters coming in to tree surgery as forestry was on its knees for hand cutters keeping husky in the game. I always missed the 262's though and when I started buying my own saws first off was a 357xpg and that was the start of a swap back to husky, better anti vibes and power delivery, I think the 560's are probably one of the best saws made I've used despite the problems of the early models.
  8. I think it has and it always will be the case that across the board husky's have the speed and the stihl's have the torque, how to get the best out of the saw will be down to how the operator uses it to there advantage or disadvantage I would say stihl's are fool proof , getting the power to work for you with a husky I see a lot of operators struggle personally I would not use anything other than the husky's and I have the choice of the above line up for work bar the 3120 and 661.
  9. A lot of FC stuff has gone missing recently ... Good to hear they are catching people.
  10. That's exactly what I mean retrenching the crown removing to the layer under those two blobs.

Had an older one and thought it was hopeless ... One of the only saws I've brought and then sold on.
  12. I would not fell it for sure!! Looks like it has no targets so there is no need to any way, If it was mine I would reduce the crown by roughly a third there is a line you can see around that level that would reduce wind loading enough to make it stable.
  13. It's the way forward , you don't need nothing fancy if your good on spikes !
  14. Well john I think you would like the pub in greenhaugh mark said about there's a big table so all the locals mostly farmers and any one who walks in sits on and discusses the world like before Arb talk, friendly bunch .... I know the chef so I'll ask him when I see him at the social club tonight or tomorrow if he knows any good places to stay there. Send me a pm when your up if you fancy a beer , I nearly caught up with you and Paul at the APF but had just come down with shingles and felt very ill and didn't really know what was going on.... Needed some beers for the pain and then home !
  15. Sorry yes it was lost in translation !! , I meant people who leave trees in that position.
  16. Cragside has coaches full of tourists as well , not my thing.
  17. It sure does !! You really want prosecuting though for endangering life leaving a tree in that situation.
  18. Seriously they had walked away from a tree after making the felling cut? How long had it been left for ?
  19. It's pretty low per tonne but then it's a heavy dense wood , we were getting £27 per tonne back in February for biomass on second thinnings but where lucky to have a buyer 10 miles away.
  20. I had a oleo Mac saw years ago and found it really nicely balanced and a good performer.
  21. He would wouldn't he !! I may take him up on the demo of an efco hedge cutter soon.
  22. Been looking at the efco 156 that looks a lot of saw for the money and light.
  23. Fitted a solid one a few months back after a dual mass that had barely done a year started breaking up again.
  24. I was thinking allendale didn't get a mention, Allen banks is nice and along the south Tyne is all stunning country side ,Your not far from Alston which is Cumbria either from allendale which has the steam railway.
  25. The holly bush is a good one ... So is are the pubs at fallstone which is close to greenhaugh so look around for places at greenhaugh and falstone its all national park there and your close to hadrians wall and keilder this ones in falstone ,worked here the other day and it is stunning also has 3 good pubs near by but about the most expensive to rent In Northumberland ! http://www.sykescottages.co.uk/cottage/Northumbria-Northumberland-Greystead/Greystead-Old-Church-23575.html The first one I sent you a link too is out side the national park also on a working farm and the a accommodation is the nothing to write home about but I like staying up there if I want to be on the coast , good pubs and Food in local village there. It's a big county so maybe worth doing a few nights in the national park then up on the east coast around Anick or the holy island john is what I would do.
