  1. I've seen some of the RC lowering devices with out the Stein logo on eBay as well, not good.
  2. Getting paid by the tonne ,all timber to be removed from site and no high stumps ,it takes about a minute to make those cuts with a 560 on a 15"bar.... Also makes rolling the tree Easy when snedding and like I said it annoys the forwarder driver when his load has big gaps in because of flares... Tbh though a lot of the larger trees on that site we dressed the timber when it was on the deck.
  3. Removed toes also make nice jacking points for those hairy Spruce that need pushing through , also means you can get wedges in further. And keeps the forwarder driver happy so he does not have gaps in his bunk. Leave them for compromised trees definitely though , I learnt that the hard way when I had a big elm collapse on a saw bending the bar and leaving me in a situation you don't really want to be in!
  4. If you just need bearings though I have a spare set.. Went to buy a new crank case as mine was an early 5 bolt one that had leaked and stripped bolts and it was cheaper to buy the whole short block than the crank case.
  5. Pete you can pick up a bottom end short block consisting of new crank and case crank and bearings ready to go for £170. If that's of any use...
  6. What's gone on yours ??
  7. Roller gets a really nice finish... Last time I painted a ply box it took a good few coats to soak in.
  8. Cheers mate Thing is rich I brought it knowing full well I didn't get on with mechanical climbing devices in the hope this would change how I felt , it didn't ....I just like the organics of hitch cord and I need some new rigging line and too make my climbing bag a bit lighter. I've only tried this and the uni and definitely preferred it but if I'm not using it I would rather sell it too some one who would.
  9. Sorry Gerbutt, I'm too computer illiterate to do a link so here is the list number 181858832377
  10. I have a bull dog bone on auction on eBay if any one is interested.

    T540 what bar?

I'm holding you to this if I can't cope with the extra 2.5 Oz.Ordered the sugi.
  12. Sounds a plan ... I'll try and not talk politics over a pints though it turns the night sour.. We could do with sectaries though for more rounds
  13. Good idea mark Maybe we could get Russia and China too chip in to pay for some of it and they will stop selling them weapons to tear apart there home lands and the cia will stop training militias in an attempt to do there dirty work and the west will stop interfering with our failed foreign policy...

    T540 what bar?

Cheers mark.. That's a lot of difference if your holding the thing and cutting all day.

    T540 what bar?

No one running the Oregon ?? Can send me the links any way mark.
  16. Looking at another new bar !! I'm tempted to go for the sugihara but I'm put off by it being noticeably heavier , what are people running and if there's any one noticing the weight with the sugi.
  17. I know what you mean though,in the transition from using srt to just access to working a crown is hard if you have been used to double ropes and was quite out of my comfort zone not having the ropes in the supporting manor a double rope provides until it all clicks in your mind it's fine!! , I definitely did what your students did in the first few climbs , I still like to clip it on so the system is in front of you for coming back of limbs and taking out the slack as it feels not so alien and feels easier.
  18. It's nice to keep up the bridge like in D MC s photo so it's all in front of you instead of dragging by your feet, adjusting my neck tether so it's slack allows this ... Also with elastic you can move ,unlike a rigid tether I just find it hassle constantly unclipping and re clipping in to kit...
  19. Great idea ! Rec climbing the other day I noticed if we got the tail of the rope redirected high on a wrench set up it was really easy to pull kids up and control to the redirect point and control there descent if needed, kind of the reverse to that set up but worked really well and they had a great time!! You could even pull up adults with a bit more effort!
  20. Just advancing the line it's clipped on... But I can slacken it right off if It's not a major limb to get out on. D MC I tried the hitch exactly as recommended in the instructions and like I said it was a great tool for transition in to srt... Your set up looks good and would work well amending the problems I found hindering my HH set up. Will try them out, thanks.
  21. How do you find it coming back in james ??, I've found with the adjustable elastic neck loop it can pretty much stay on most of the time and really makes the climb easier , only really clip it off for long descents, I've put two tree motion push elastic adjusters on near the clip to make it slacker but still give support branch walking and shorter for straight up ascents.
  22. Just a loop to keep any device to advance and tend , but Personally like the loop large, so it's not restrictive in movement , you only seem to be able to get away with this on the wrench if you want it to still self tend effectively... The others seem to require a chest style tethers.. Is that the correct term?? Or very short loop ,Might work completely different for other people though! This is what I'm using at the minute although I've shortened the hitch a bit as I kept getting fingers stuck in the wrench lol!

Ha ha , cheers shavey... I tried googling if Sachs came up as a separate company still but came as no mention to do with power tools.
  24. I've ran genuine parts on a none OEM crankcase for a 372 no bother so Parts can't be that bad , looking on eBay you could build a 372 for under £200 ! Even if you put OEM bearings in.

Why did they drop the Sachs part from the name ?
