1. Keep doing what your happy and comfy with Mick , I do find natural crutch rigging if we have too strangely satisfying ! But in the same token a lot more is possible with a decent pulley and 16mm double braid and lowering device... And there is no way my best 16 and 19mm double braid ropes are been used for both... I've seen glazed ropes snap negative rigging as well.
2. He's salvaged a 395 560 and ms260 cylinders and saved me a fortune in oem parts ! Also can give them a port job if you fancy a bit more ....Top man that spud
3. Yep piece of filth , he's let the world know what he's about and myself personally could not give a monkeys , but at least if any one said do you have any work for a mr Stuart P you would say no chance after he's made a tit of himself on Facebook ...I don't use face book for many reasons and reading tools like this is one of them.... would like to keep it that way .
4. Don't really see what the problem is myself , the poster has exposed himself and his name to the whole tree community so people can make there own opinions ... At least the fellas not been a snake in the grass all mr nice whilst stabbing you in the back..
5. Just seen the pics, great day!
6. I have Darin , if I'm rigging I'll always keep a steel crab on the line so if I want to take it off or on its seconds and I don't have to find or worry about tying the hitch and dressing it and the groundie can just clip it on and it's ready to go ... I'm quite impatient like! It's a good technique though for keeping the angles out on big lumps as gray git says. Has any one tried the shizzle balancer ??? I'm intrigued!
7. This is my cradle system , quick and easy to set and it's far easier than tip roping if your using a Hobbs /grcs type device for getting limbs off roofs or targets and you can take huge limbs out in one go rather than 2-3 bits you would of had to do tip or butt roping. Interestingly We have been playing with this system lots on defective trees and it puts a lot less shock load than tip or butt tied ropes one example is after dismantling a whole tree on the cradle I butt roped one limb and it tore out the rigging anchor despite been about third the size of the average limb we had been taking out cradling.
8. Yep joe, far to sensible !! you have to show a degree of mental illness and get a boner over a saw before any one will listen .... Apparently .
9. 12" full chisel would not want to use any thing else.
10. I won £50 last draw On a £4 bet
11. Always thought this was a great photo, it's sure not looking much like a hedge at the minute though.
12.
Yes it worked as a good combo , the winch was a farmi 3t (very simple to service)not that it makes any difference! The most important thing was the winch was fully serviced and had a good clutch, I was amazed at what it would pull, often whole storm lodged and hung up 70ftplus beech trees the only problem was skidding but the tractor was quite effective especially on two wheels and steering with the brakes so make sure your fordsons brakes are up to scratch, often used it on bigger jobs with a case 78hp tractor that had big front weights but the simplicity of the IH made it a lot more monoverable , now I'm using a valmet 6400 with a Norse 5 tonne winch that the winch desperately needs a refurb , have better skidding power but the winch is nearly on useless and I wish I had not sold the old farmi! If your not on a budget a remote 3 tonne winch is what we are after , looking at The Riko ones at the moment.

13. I was told the other day metal chain brake handles are not acceptable in a work environment by HSE .. I have no idea if this is correct though!!
14. Tree stuff in the states mate but it is not ce marked also the sell it by the ft rather than the meter so keep that in mind when ordering.
15. Yeah I believe so mate , I still have never heard a saw as loud as your 390 though!!
16. Spuds got videos of a ported 390 and a ported 395xp the 390 went first then we put the same bar and chain on the 395 with out sharpening, the 395 was noticeably quicker It felt and looked.
17. Spot on , there's stacks and stacks of timber in keilder that's been felled this year and barely any of its been moved out due to its cheaper to import it as the pounds so strong... The knock on effect is worrying talking to one of the bigger hauliers this week and the some contractors and they are all worried !
18. Think I'll stick with my pinto ... beautifully simple and easy .
19. Lasted about 18 hours , Stressed and smoking more than ever at the minute and feel crap for it .. I always like joe enjoyed it but the girl friends has just given up and We have another family member about to go to lung cancer 4th in 5 years so I think a trip in too town and try another e fag just to try and ween us off.
20. Hi joe I don't use that method so can't help ... I'm not fully understanding what is going on in that photo so would be intrigued if your self or any one else could explain it as it looks interesting , links to you tube would be great ! Have you tried the alpine and pulley retrievable system ? That works well for me as long as there is a clear retrieve route with both tales together.
21. It's really good to see a vid of yourself talking through your thoughts of what your doing and why ... That locations stunning as well.
22. Tree stuff?? Have a lot of spares for wrenches not sure on the mk1 though
23. Nice work ... The more you do the easier it gets to see a line to follow with the curves and tree shape , the tree you have done looked a partially difficult one as well as your not taking the same uniform amount off all over to make a balanced tree... Also if your asking your grounds people if a bit is sticking out it usually is!
