  1. In my quest for Sachs dolmar 166 parts it appears that a mcculloch super pro 118 is a direct dolmar 166 copy ..... Only problem is it seems they are rarer than a dolmar 166 so another dead end !
  2. I could of sworn it was a 550 block he had on the desk that prompted me to ask but your probably right then!
  3. Are you sure ? The only reason I found out about the 560 short block was seeing a 550 one in my local dealers and asking what it was all about.
  4. You can buy a complete short block for around £190 .. I think the crank case separate are only just a bit cheaper and you would save labour on the most intensive bit of saw building removing the crank ... you could get spud to swap the bits around and give it a port job at the same time if you fancy some thing a bit more ...Errr suped up !!
  5. Lever came off in my hands on the forwarding trailer and got cross threaded putting bolt back through and took an age to get in the right position so controls would work properly again. Came to a small seem of cord that was quicker to stick through the processor so got it fired up and thawed out. Saw blade on the processor got jammed and slipped knocking out the carbide teeth so that's another £250. Drove miles to the back and beyond in the last bit of day light when I could of been fixing processor to look at a thinning job with the whole crew so we could get a good feel for the site ... It was about half a days work and no timber to take off so cost us more money to look at it.
  6. The older 150 and I'm guessing entec Feed roller hydraulic moters are a lot more bigger than the later 150's but are cast .. If you stick the later blade type replacing the cast roller it performs really well over a new 150 that seems to have slower infeed.
  7. Well done every one! Simon you lucky fella!
  8. Made up on that one !!
  9. Some great prizes !!
  10. Would of liked the splicing course , nice one lads.
  11. Bit more snow last night but it's nice n crispy , just towed Zak through the forest off the back of the truck until we found some nice steep hills.

    Dolmar

Looks interesting ..... Chain is on the wrong way though! Any specs for this saw ?
  13. Tractors are just starting to thaw out, wish I had put thicker socks on.
  14. I have an old Maktec one I brought about 10 years ago for £20. It has done loads of heavy sanding on Alaskan cut boards with a heavy grit , shaping of woodcarvings , cutting and grinding of metal and refuses to die ! I would buy another, in comparison I brought another make and it lasted half a day before the bearings gave up.
  15. Only time I use a silky now is water shoots and a tree that has 3 bits of dead in.... 150 all the way ,so easy to clip in your harness and forget about and combined with SRT it makes pruning all day in comparison to the old silky and DRT seem like being in a day spar in effort comparison.
  16. He used to pop in my local with ruby wax, big character in real life as well, RIP Alan . Classic film dogma , one of my favourite Rickman characters.
  17. Wow that's pretty special , I think there's possibly only 4 breeding pairs in England looking at the statistics.
  18. Don't entirely agree ... As fire wood suppliers we should be stock piling our supplies and storing them so it is suitable to sell at the wettest darkest time of year....if you can't do that the selling of wood not suitable to burn should be labelled as such. Totally agree about soft wood and local supplied timber though.
  19. Your going to have a load of super lights stuck on the shelves now Justin!
  20. A few more ... Who does not want that 200t !!!

    Dolmar

Does that mean dolmar will merge fully in to makita ?
  22. Was thinking of trying the husky ,I like the 150 for all those reasons but may stick with it as it's the weight that makes this saw despite the handle been a bit brittle. Could not agree more on the 201 though mate , first time I used it I was shocked just how bad it was for chasing cuts with not good results, to the point I felt it was not fit for purpose and just dangerous as a serious climbing saw, put it down and never used it since.Running it over would of been a better option though.
  23. SRT and a 560 you can't go wrong for tearing down a tree!
  24. Get what you can for it I would say , but that seems a fair price.
  25. Enjoyed that, nice work.
