  1. I wonder if they had had the tree inspected at all in the last few years and whether there were any external signs that could have alerted someone to that happening.
  2. Sounds sensible enough if you want to reduce the lever-arm loads lower down the tree. Impossible to comment on whether it is right for that tree without photos though - can you get any?
  3. I found a rubber jonny about 5m up an oak on a country lane. Either a good throw or some pretty acrobatic amorising!
  4. Ah ok. You must know my bud Mike Kiss then? Did the tech cert with him last year. I am working in Swindon til Xmas - it wasn't me you saw across the river. Hope you don't get lynched by the locals!
  5. Yeah right, what's with all the garish colours these days? I think tree surgeons are getting too style conscious. Black was fine!
  6. Hi Treemup - you are round the corner from me then. Who do you work for? I had heard about this problem before but didn't realise it was still rolling on.
  7. Hi guys - a friend of mine requires one full load (3.5tonner) of woodchip in Aldridge. He needs it by the 25th of this month as it is being used in the grounds where he is getting married. Can anyone help? Please PM me if you can drop a load there some time soon. cheers, Paul
  8. What a fantastic finish yesterday afternoon. Collingwood and Anderson saved our necks. I think we will raise our game for the rest of the tour.
  9. You need a diploma to have a diploma :-)

I am sure that truck, or one very similar, was advertised on ebay a few months ago. I haven't used one but the comments on arbtalk last time it came up for sale were not very positive I remember.
  11. Nice one mate - you made quick work of that in the end! Did you lay him out?!
  12. That is great! Nice one Bryn and the rest of the gang.
  13. Mmmm, it's on the tip of my toungue....
  14. It's just not British to discuss your earnings on a public forum!
  15. Cool! Glad to have brought something unusual to the table!
  16. I am surprised you are having trouble finding someone in these times. Everyone seems to be looking for work!
  17. Came across this on hols in Malaysia - pretty interesting huh! Anybody seen this phenomenon anywhere else?
  18. Great idea Steve - I am sure that will be very popular when it's done.
  19. Bad name Treepedo. Makes me think of an old sweaty bloke in a long jacket dribbling over saplings.
  20. I love the heat. Except when I am doing tree work.
  21. Depends what he/she is employed to do surely? If a good climber is employed/subbed in to carry out tricky or big climbing operations, then yes, they are a good tree worker in that instance. If the climber is good at climbing but is also expected (as is mostly the case I think!) to then give a hand on the ground where necessary, carry out maintenance on equipment etc but is crap at all that, then no, they are not a good overall tree worker. 'Tree worker' is a pretty broad term I guess. I think ideally a good tree worker is: - quick and efficient both in the tree and on the ground - a logical person that can solve problems - a practical person that can carry out maintenance on a range of machinery - a good communicator with the rest of the team and the wider public - and of course has a good working knowledge of trees and their health.....
  22. Woo hoo! Great news - all the best wishes for a happy start to his life.
