  1. Can't see anything 'pikey' about that!?
  2. Good idea though! I am sure it won't be long...
  3. I can guess who the company is, but I don't know Dave.

  5. I am no photographer, but those are nice shots Katie! That's the most ear like 'jews ear' I have ever seen!
  6. Technical terms for the black lines/spalting effect.
  7. Ditto. I reckon there would be funding available from somewhere for such a project. It would need to be done well to make it worth it.
  8. It does look good, but alot of design?! It's just a slender piece of hollow metal with a couple of threads! Sorry Mr Treepedo, I think anything more than £20 is over the top.
  9. Here is a nice one from the Quantocks that shows some self-optimization/lever arm. Hope this is the sort of thing? PS. credit to the photographer: Ian Monger who I was at college with.
  10. Check out this great news article and video. Inspirational stuff from Mark Chisolm and team - it would be great to do something like this in urban areas of the UK too. Young Adults Learn to Climb City Trees. Without Elevators. - NYTimes.com
  11. Very odd. Especially when you hear about suppliers like Justin being done in.
  12. Really sorry to hear that Justin. Hope you can claim your costs with minimal hassle. There must be so much hot arb kit circulating in this little island...we gotta catch someone soon!
  13. Darn it, you gotta be quick around here! Shame.
  14. What a great post and great news for you Stu. May your business and enthusiasm continue and prosper!
  15. Is the Magellan PDA the Mobile Mapper 6 or the Mobile Mapper CX? I may be interested in this.
  16. I think a business name that includes you area of operation in makes sense, even if it is a bit boring. I imagine most people would type in 'tree surgeon' plus their location in order to find a local contractor. eg I would go for Bristol Tree services etc to try and hit the google searches for my area.
  17. I bought a few oak logs innoculated with shitake mushroom mycelium for xmas pressies. Got one myself which I am currently 'shocking' to make it fruit.
  18. Apparently this year is the last intake for the PD arb with Treelife as the qualification is being phased out. I am looking forward to whatever replaces it as I couldn't commit to starting it this year.
  19. Pet shops? Spend even more money and compress it in to pellets?
  20. Have you considered the AA Tech Cert as an alternative step up. It's obviously no PD Arb but it's a pretty good course to follow on from the NC.
  21. Do you know much about trees? If not, at least get some good books on tree biology, identification and pruning.
