  1. Not seen that adaption for the second pantin before - very cool!
  2. Hola Pablo!!! How are you?!

  3. Mine broke too. Carl (high scale) replaced it for me - think he used some brake cable or something. I climbed on it for a while without the cable without too much bother though.
  4. Oh right. Ron (Ricketts) used to work for Andrew and I thought he now ran the air-spade works for him. Obviously not! Just wondered why you had their website on your signature.
  5. Good post Tony! Are you working with Ron at Rhizoecology now?
  6. Sounds good Marcus, but your inability to use your phones buttons does make me wonder whether your new app will actually work! I am sure there would be a very high demand if you can provide an accurate clinometer for a low cost. Please keep us posted.
  7. Many congratulations Justin! Happy days!
  8. Looks good Scott! Hope it brings you lots of business!
  9. It sounds like you agree with Andy then Bundle2 - if I am understanding you both right. An arb should be confident it his/her ability as an Arb - not as an engineer, architect etc.... Stick within the remit of the report (which should be defined before you start), comment on things you are confident about but leave non-arb technical issues to other professionals. We all know how annoying it is when architects or building surveyors make generalisations or recommendations about trees that are ill-informed. It works both ways!
  10. Ah, that's a bit different then! TBH if anything I would say you have done over and above what is needed. Arguably you could have just used a caveat stating that issues of heave and subsidence were beyond the scope of your report. But I say good on you for being thorough - as long as you still made good money on the report!

    Birds!

Not really? He might not have disturbed them at all?
  12. You are right, the houses should have been put on adequate foundations if they are only 5 years old. Are you doing a report or just advising about the tree work? If you are doing anything in writing I would recommend getting a soil sample lab tested for better info on the plasticity index.

  14. Cheers chaps - always good to get a second opinion!
  15. Would you agree? On a cedar in an old wound at about chest height. I have only ever seen it at ground level before. Photos provided by client and show different stages.
  16. It's not. But then again within the arb industry it is alot of money. It's sad but true.
  17. Happy birthday Steve. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8e_Zpxoe94&feature=related]YouTube - Pug Sings Happy Birthday - Hilariously Funny Dog Video Ecard[/ame]

    hiya

Welcome to the forum Peter. Hope you will find it useful and make some good contacts through it. All the best with your job hunt.
  19. Yep. Mate of mine had a knife come off and fly out of the housing and in to a woodland. He never found it. Very scary!
  20. I do have a degree already, but not in arb. Myerscough said I prob wouldn't get on the degree course but I should apply for the masters! I don't quite understand it but would be happy to do the masters anyway. Tbh my preference was for the RFS Prof Dip, but nobody seems to know when this will start again.
  21. Hi Tony. I actually think you are out of line there - you can't guarantee that somone else will be out of their depth just because they are "younger and more academic"! You are great at what you do, and I have no doubt you will go on to even greater things, but it doesn't mean you have to poo-poo others on the way past!
