  1. we had both our chippers nicked last year the bobbies were bloody briliant found them even tho they had ben separated, thanks to a phone call from a curtain twitcher, the theives had left them by ther time the cops turned up so unfortunatly couldn't nick em for the chippers but they dipped their 4*4 fuel tanks & found RED Diesel, imediately impounded the cars, then they were crushed & owners they had to pay a fine too !!!!! RESULT
  2. You say that in the past tense I 'still' own a fourtrack the navara is a compromise between 4*4 & comfort with a high spec I dont appreciate the inferance that I am an idiot either, but then I really dont give a toss what you may think , its my money & I will spent it where when & on what I choose.

  11. welcome to the forum lads listen, watch & ask questions from those involved in the practical side of the industry, gain as much knowledge & experience as you can, then look to develop your academic quals, ABc/myerscough distance learning are excellent beaware that nearly everyone to whom you speak will be the definative authority on Arb, we are all very quick to big ourselves up (its part of the job i'm affraid). take on board as much info as you can, then cut your own way through it Lantra/Nptc certs are in this day & age a prerequisite & also a base for your ability to be developed from ( bear in mind these are a certificate of competence not of excellence & will require much further practical application to enhance your skill ALL the best & I look forward to talking with you on this and many other subjects via the forums rgds Iain

  13. ime its the tree that gets in the frame first, not geo reports, had one report stating a clients tree was cause third party damage, yes they did sample digs & found that the tree roots were indeed present in the grounds (small expolitory fiberous roots), however they failed to carry out plastisity index report, the main issue was with regards to a brand new kitchen extension that had cracks internally, the footings and shell were built in wet winter completed in a dry summer then after a discussion with the my client it came to light that because the lady of the house was in a rush to use the new kitchen the plasterer had used a space drier to assist the curing of the plaster DER !!!! Tree not at fault , although it was also mentioned by the complainant, that it (The Tree) would still cast a shadow on the recently landscaped patio & bbq area. as intermated previously subsidence is an issue but if done in error the heave potential once the tree is gone doesnt seem to catch the attention. why do they not go for canopy reductions, & inderpin the house ? = cost & its only a tree grrrrrr
  14. steve got the details on 4 of those karab's we need two more
  15. Council lists are to be open & independant they cannot activley promote any person the only criteria that they can ask is that where legislation is applicable that the operator conforms. ( off the record i'm sure the a To may tip a wink to those he knows are reputable on the list) eg in the case of a tpo'd tree that the work conforms to Bs3998 & advise that the client seeks clarifaction from the contractor as to there suitability to the task & that where nessecary have in place insurance & conform the hsaw act, it is incumbent in law on the client to satisfy themselves of the ability of the contractor to carry out the work, fit for purpose, as failure to do so is not a defense in law, ie contractor carrys out none Bs3998 work upon a protected tree both the contractor & the client can be prosecuted.
  16. As anything that is beyond your immediate scope to predict, build in a clause to your bid that allows your 'price to be based upon ''' however if exceeded an allowance/increment will be chargeable etc etc just cover your arse ! you'll know how it will fit into your schedule & anything that is a definate earner, especially in the forecasted economic slowdown should not be lost over a few quid on maybes & what if's imo
