  1. Andy I'm not moaning as i have stated I have applied for a wcl, however i thinks its crazy !! another means of collecting tax ! ps they have replied, stating that they cant meet the 35 day criteria & need an extension, saying that if we dont agree they may fail our application yet more Government targets = misuse of power to ensure they appear to be good at their job, also they 'the ea' dont fail a target requirement A joke i was recently told what key can get past any lock A piKEY
  2. i have 1 a pedestrian narrow access with hyd drive 28hp kohlor engine it mans most jobs the big ones with sweep head on are nice but you have got to access & a lot pf that kind of work to justify one 'nice tho'
  3. well hes agreed to sell to you if there was no reserve amount then he must accept the amount its reached not entirely convinced about the realitys of it though as it will envolve legal claims so small claims court long drawn out & my not apply north of the border !!
  4. how can you purchase it you've made it ' its not their woodchipper is it !!!
  5. Ed How did you pay ? paypal or credit card ? either or have policies protecting both parties # the credit card boys will hammer him if he has taken their money, also if payment has been accepted then to me it is alegally binding contract if the money isnt returned then thats fraud, obtaining moneys by deception !! you must feel like driving up & putting one on his nose end ps did he put a clause in the listing advising of the right to withdraw or advertised elsewhere ?
  6. lots of stuff not in the blue book primarily from the legal stand point, clarity, urban myths dispelled, it would be unfair to Cas & Dealga to give it away , but in my opinion its was well worth going & I dont consider myself as being wet behind the ears, if you intend to do more tpo related work or consultancy this is a valuable insight into it at a higher level imo ! it wasnt just us arbo boys, experienced Consultants & Tree officers were there & believe me They Learnt lots too !! if your not sure ring david Lloyd Jones 01585 621234 he may give more away !! you should know me Lee I'm not one to waste money or give false praise
  7. i'm getting one not for tree stuff but for the land maintenance stuff
  8. Okay lads bad points Got up at five drove 315 miles got stuck in liverpool struggled to find parking Good points A very well thought through & well presented workshop. the numbers of attendees, gave all plenty of time to openly discuss the content with Dealga, who was down to earth, giving confident & clear responses, all of the questions were answered based upon many years of pratical experience not blah blah lifted from another text book The extent of his knowledge is defo worth listening to I asked David from cas, if the workshop could be closer His response, you find the venue & the delegates And we'll be there !! So if you want want to group together, ring him & discuss the required numbers/figures to make it work !! So in summary was it worth it YES would I recommend it YES should you go YES Was my brain hurting YES Will I be attending More Cas workshops YES All the best Iain

  10. oregon but then some would say that, because I sell it, that said I have no problem in supplying / sell stihl stuff too, Stihl have pumped an awful lot of money into chain production , the latest is their comfort chain , which reduces vibration !! thoughtful eh! its a horses for courses, thing really so in real terms ! I'd do what your teams want especially if its cost comparable
  11. I dont think it matters to much so long as you have stong advertising
  12. yes its legal however if you put a load in the bucket or elsewhere then its not
  13. I raised the point with Stihl over ebay selling new top handled saws Apparently it is not illegal to buy a top handled saw without a certificate ( which makes sense as some companys buy through a procurement or buyer dept ) It is however illegal to use a top handled saw in the work place without certification, its also illegal to use on the ground, due to kickback implications
  14. What about december when its still dark at 9 & then dark again at 3 I hate december,, humbug !!!

  19. whilst grinding out an oak butt , in fact the one in my avatar, the machine kicked out a horse shoe which must have been there since at least the mid 1800s !
  20. What are you trying to imply Ed !!
  21. technique beats brut strength I feel that if at all strength is potentially more of an issue for groundies cant comment on individuals but have I have seen some very techically competent female saw operators.
  22. I think the main gripe is the feeling that some elements of the industry are trying to shoulder out others , which in some sense is just normal business practise , however to trail around to large bodies ie the churches as a Voice of the industry & the industry standard setting body is nothing more than over inflated ' especially when As ARB jobs nick metions they are self opointed as such : I Agree a standard is required Although that needs to be decided on the businesses profile & customer base take for instance 'trustmark' is not all its cracked up to be ' a government lead initiative, that is in their words aimed toward the private sector, personally We are going for the Iso Standard Which means nothing to the general public, but is taken very seriously by the business sector, As it looks at the quality aspects of the business & its framework ,which is annually re-verified, then the prove of our abilities is up to us on a day to day basis , in business you are only as good as your last job, As MattyF says it matters not what bodies you belong too a crap job, will not get you included the next time. Groups that fly this Sector banner are being damaged by absolutly shocking work carried out under its flag, & well short of best practise on occasion This is compounded as the un enlightened customer are therefore using on recommendation a poor company providing a poor service at well over market value based on the premise that they have been vetted & must therefore be good ! For the reasons stated by others ie :cost, staff leaving, greed, blinkered vision of the potential skill base available Imo We dont need more groups : so long as those who wish to approve & represent do so ! Fairly, whilst not alienating any others, who are its prospective future. I origanlly posted the Tender annoucement re The Only AA contractors need apply to get this matter in the open As its ring fencing contractors some of which in the opinion of some on this forum' to be well short of the standard So in short AA directors ( I know you'll read this )please Dont encourage it You are most definatly damaging your 'future' membership & the puplic monies that are being spent are not Open To best Value & thats a whole new can of worms !!! All The Best Guys + Merry Christmas Lol rgds Iain
  23. Sorry Bob but that simply is no reason to potentially mis spend public monies by restricting the applicants for a tender process just because they wish to put the preverbial UMBRELLA UP ! its wrong & thats that !!! if they arent able to distingush good competent contractors through pqq's & the tender process then Are they fit for post ? best value applys if exclution on the grounds of 'can't be arsed' is allowed to take over then god help this country , no wonder our council tax keeps going up among the rest of the tax burden I believe that the local authority would be hard pushed to stand up if the awarded contract were challenged where Must have statements are applied (on none statutory req's)
