  10. OH & ONLY 8k what a pile of cack
  11. personally Cvs are okay ishReferences could be falsified or bigged up the level of your ability will be the key, speed isnt everything, a climber who looks at the whole picture, is way better, precision & skill a good all round ability & take the time to talk through the job especially if you havent worked with that crew b4 a speed freak who makes a crows nest at foot of the tree comes down & wants to sit in the van will piss the groundies off they in turn will slag the subbie off to the gaffer & thus wont be back. as for insurance depends on the end client we carry 5 mil as standard I'd get on the phone & talk to co's set your rate & if you cant do what you say you can, do it for half, if you can they'll call you Ps be aware that all subbie climbers get the Shity jobs every time !!!!

  18. Well as I see it , Matty you did what you believed to be right under those circumstances. I havent looked at all the posts coz to be honest I couldnt be arsed From the impression Matty gave me when I met him, I seriously doubt any tree is going to Beat him not permanently any how. It may shake his nerve but I bet I know ultimatley who will win ' The dude with the saw' Steve has a valid point from a business perspective Not that I think he was having a pop at matty he was just saying it as he sees it ie if a company back heels too many jobs , then the customer will ime call someonelse too do it They ( the new co') will then embelish it & take great pleasure in informing anyone you'll listen that their competitor is not upto big tree work, that kind of background muttering among the locals, won't do anyones business profile any good at all !
  19. cheers mate hows the family ?
  20. A 12 bore works well but on a serious note We were tasked last year with a site removalfor a national house builder, however a magpie was nesting in one of the trees. A bobbie contacted the site manager after a tip off from a concerned member of the public basically the conversation to the site manager went ---- if you go ahead, you, the contractor and your area manager 'will be locked up' if that same magpie had been flying over a field it could have been legitimatley shot as vermin, but we had to postpone work untill after the nesting season

  24. whos going to make the decisions, who will be doing the admin, the costings pricing of jobs, sourcing of equipment van chipper etc insurance if the person gets it wrong there will be arguments when the money gets tight. + this time of year is not good to be stiking out as very low call demand for established business's let alone that for a brand new business, unless you already have enough work to suffciently support you all Mind saying that I suppose your gaffer will have a less stressful time 3 wages not to worry about & then if it doesnt work will you go back ? will he let you ? Dont think the grass is all that green , coz when you do you may well come down to earth with quite a heavy bump I cant fault you for having the ambition to work for your self, but then think long & hard about it , have you thought about being self employed with your current gaffer ? rgds Iain
