Just wondering - does anyone use the tip site directory?

I have had an ad on there for nigh on a year, for my site near Warwick, happy to accept softwood, hardwood, chip, plus recently edited to point out that I can take some brash. And I will either donate some drinks, pay to a charity or pay cash (by negotiation) for stuff being tipped.

But not a sniff of contact up to now? Am I doing something wrong?

I would say from the responses you must be using the wrong toothpaste 😁

I have used it a handful of times, with mixed results. Ranging from great to a waste of time. Only use it when working out of my main area and not needing to do that at present.

Used one site, dropped off about 12t of conni chip, excellent, but according to owner I am only one that's been in touch. Worked for me, saved dragging it back 40 miles each way.

Hi,

I contacted the five people in my area looking for chip and didn't get a single response. Thought I must be doing something wrong too!! I didn't even get a 'not at the moment thanks'

I love the idea but I guess it is down to the individuals using it.

Next time I get an excess I'll use it again and post the results here.

That's terrible and inexcusable!  But I think it's also exceptional; it certainly does nothing to enhance what is actually a very good resource - to Steve's credit

I contacted a local one to where I will be working on 6th Jan. Seems to be just a householder looking for mulch. They have said they will take it, so happy days. It seems to work for me!

It still amazes me the people on Facebook trying to sell it for £100 a load! No one should ever pay for chip!

No one should give it away for free.. (unless it helps) biomass guys pay for it so don't give it away..

It's got to be handy for people work a long way from home it want to get shot of it rather than take it home.

Not that many near me on Essex /Suffolk border but have my own drop off sites which cover most of my work area.

Thanks all - it’s interesting to hear people’s views. I was genuinely wondering if I’d done something wrong in the ad, but as pointed out, it may be because arbs around here also do firewood. I live in an area where a lot of the houses don’t have mains gas so probably relatively high demand for firewood.

If anyone does read this and wants to get rid of arisings (inc. softwood, I’m not fussy!) in the Warwick area, feel free to give me a shout.
