Hernia

Mum (80) has had a hernia for a while, she has now decided to get it sorted. Quite a wait on NHS so decided to go private. £3k I think.

If it were me I'd be finding £3k before going through the NHS, local hospital does not have a good rep.

Happens to the best of us, had my first after lifting tree trunks for the hell of it, which was not too bad , back grafting after a few weeks.

Second one was a different kettle of fish, had all that mesh stuffed inside, for first week couldn’t get out of bed, felt like the burke had sewn his scissors up in my gut.

Eventually healed up but long while watching other people work.

As above, go private if you can with a good quality consultant Mark.

Have had two done one twice go private if you can and get used to watching other people work while you stand, the healing process cannot be shortened as I found out

when they say don’t lift it means don’t lift anything! Now got two Kevlar strips around my groin, upside is I’m bullet proof down there

That's a shame on a day like this as a pint of cold lager is heavier than a cup of tea.

We'll have one for you mate. Cheers.

had a inguinial hearna about 20 years ago and i dont want another one thanks, it was hanging down in my ball sack, stood up walking about i was in constant pain, lie down and it all went and with in about 10 seconds of standing up back to a dull ache/pane,

Got it done with in about 5 week, but managed to get a cancellation at a different hospital so all was good,  The weeks after where not good, dont bend dont lift dont do this and dont do that, i managed 5 days doing jack shit, then i had to do something so pottered about in the garden and a bit of tidying out in the shed , Big mistake as this prolonged the recovery by a fair bit ended up having 12 wk of work and when i went back was sent home on the 3rd day and to a private doctor for a asscesment and signed off for another 6 wk,

Dont mess about just get it done and if you need to go private just do it, i would not think twice about going private today given the back log with the NHS,

Good luck it will be OK,
