best way of removing tree and stumps
openspaceman replied to Hog a Log Hogson's topic in General chat
Railway land tended to be bought under a parliamentary statute so couldn't be successfully squatted. It may still be owned by the current rail residuary body if not having been sold on. -
Out yesterday doing some scrapes with the jcb. The TAB boom is so handy- lets you pull back in nice and tight to undercut the bracken rhizome cleanly against the blade. Then lift it up tight to build a bund behind you at a higher elevation.

Nope, what I'm suggesting is that the migrant thing is something of a red flag. I am not saying it's a problem that shouldn't be sorted. It's just not the one that will sort the economy. The real problem in terms of the collapse of living standards is the very wealthy stripping the assets of this country. I actually think the Greens and the new whatever they are called party offer a chance to level things out. Assuming Zach Polanski wins the ballot.

All these cheap skid steer loaders about…….

Who would any of you guys recommend speaking to regarding a good second hand machine? They’re not massively common on eBay etc, and I’d rather buy second hand from a reputable source if possible -
Advice needed: MDL Power Up's chippers
monkeybusiness replied to green heart's topic in General chat
I bought an MDL Power Up petrol flail (for the back of a quad) as part of a package of machinery - it was well made and did a good job, but was incredibly heavy on the drawbar (the design seemed slightly badly executed in this regard). Was clearly a bit ‘Chineseium’ in some aspects, but the price reflected this. -

STIHL has expanded its AP System range with the launch of two new lithium-ion batteries, the AP 20 and AP 30, engineered to meet the needs of domestic, semi-professional and professional users taking on lighter gardening and landscaping tasks. Developed for select tools within the AP System, the AP 20 and AP 30 offer a cost-effective introduction to STIHL’s professional battery platform. The AP 20 delivers 144 Wh of energy at a weight of 1.3 kg, while the AP 30 offers a higher capacity of 270 Wh at 1.8 kg. Thanks to the intelligent battery management system, these batteries have a constant level of power whether the battery is at 100% or 1% charge – meaning the tool has full power across the entire discharge cycle, for reliable performance from start to finish. The batteries are also equipped with power boost capability, which supplies additional energy on demand when working on more intensive tasks. Designed for durability and longevity, the AP 20 and AP 30 have a working life of up to 1,200 charge cycles, making them an ideal choice for regular use. Certified to IPX4 for splash protection, the batteries are suitable for use in damp or wet conditions, ensuring reliability in a range of environments. When used with the STIHL AL 301 charger, the AP 20 can be charged to 80% in 30 minutes and 100% in 50 minutes, and the AP 30 can be charged to 80% in 60 minutes and 100% in 80 minutes, helping to minimise downtime and improve productivity. Good Morning Everyone.

I very much doubt it Pete. As Stubby said, check it with a chronograph. Local gun club or gun shop should have one.

The course is designed to teach complete beginners how to safely climb and carry out aerial rescue. If you've got a bit of experience and can tie a few knots you'll already be ahead of the grade curve. You'll be shown how to ascend and work the tree using two climbing systems, then execute a few different rescues. There is a theory part where you will be expected to answer questions around various H&S/Envionmental legislation. The Candidate criteria is available from the City and Guilds website if you want to do a bit of homework.

Clarity On Hedges That are both Deciduous & Evergreen
GordonM replied to GordonM's topic in Trees and the Law
I strongly suspect 4 is fine to pay the bill to have the evergreen ones reduced to under 2M if necessary. Those aren't the concern, it's the deciduous ones next to them which they're much more protective over. It appears to be much sensitive with those. Personally i'm fine with that approach. Again i'm just not certain which way the council will go with this one. Hopefully the deciduous ones dont get affected too much. 😞 -
From what I've read it's Charlie Kray's stepson who is selling them off after his mother died, might take a mooch over to the auction, not that I'll buy anything.

There is nothing wrong with being content in life, and if pottering around grafting on the ground is it, then go for it.

Leeks. They're nice just fried up with some cabbage, like onions but sweeter. Even nicer with some lardons or pancetta added as well.

An impact wrench with 500nm of torque will stop turning a big auger long before a drill with 250nm. Impact wrenches provide jolts of peak torque to fulfil their design function of loosening or tightening a machine thread. All that happens when you stick an auger on them is that the tensile strength of the wood fibres absorbs the jolt of toque and the auger fails to advance any further. Impact drivers are use to drive screws into wood, yes, but the purpose of the jolts of torque there is to prevent cam out- where the driver bit slips in the head. Driver bits with a positive lock on the fiuxing head (such as timberlocks with their hex head) do not require an impact driver and will in fact drive far faster with the sustained torque offered by a drill. I must have explained this a dozen times over the years on here, and yet still people just can't grasp such a simple fact. A long arm brace on a quality drill allows you to impact far more torque into a wood thread or auger bit than you ever could with an impact gun.

I was more lucky, when in the market for a 50cc ish saw 15 years ago the chap persuaded me to spend the bit extra and get the 261. Still got it.
