  6. I bought the varcol 150 @£34, around the time kram spoke of it, I'v used it so far in 9 different saws, of all ages and brands and it's performed flawlessly in all of them.
  7. I'd strongly suggest you follow Mick and Bocca's recommendations -with the addition of a secure chain, lock and (boxed) ground anchor, underneath the trailers -where it's more difficult to get at, with a cordless grinder? Just get busy with a stick welder and some 5-10mm plate.. Also, planting 1m high plants of Berberis/Cotoneaster/Hawthorn at 0.3m centres, along any boundary/fencelines. Add 1.8m posts and a couple of strands of razor wire support lines, at 0.5 and1m high too (not barbed wire !). On mesh fences, the addition of high opacity green nylon privacy netting maybe helps. This is easy to find on the net and better than Scaffold netting. Install several strategically placed bird boxes...with a wildlife trip camera in one? Run a LED floodlight and PIR sensors off a Car battery in your container unit. Avoid the self contained security solar cell units, that have batteries that die in the first good frost of the year. I know all this sounds absurd, and you likely think it is/might be: overlooked/secure/all insured, etc -but the consequences of a successful theft absolutely guarantees return visits, more grief for you and higher insurance premiums, if you can even get future cover.. Sorry to appear so 'doom and gloom', but yes, I do speak from the benefit of first hand experience...

  9. Marketing / selling of any manufactured item ( woodwork or other ) is not easy , in fact it is a whole subject/ industry in itself , think of all the famous brands ,,coca cola . ferarri, stihl etc they all spend a lot of money and time / effort on marketing !! ...however for such things as woodwork then most probably country shows etc I would imagine would be best ...social media can work but is very time consuming and most followers will be other woodworkers who are unlikely to buy your work , I do a fair bit of woodturning and sell mostly through Galleries but could easily make a lot more stuff than I can sell , craft fairs can be very hit and miss ! Good luck .....

  13. We are currently building a small tree team at Orbit Homes, managing a diverse tree stock for one of the UKs largest social housing providers. We are looking for an Assistant Tree Officer to deliver our tree related services in the Midlands region. Based from home with frequent travel around our sites between Leicester, Oxford and Birmingham, you'll be surveying trees for Health & Safety, responding to customer enquiries, issuing works and managing contractors. 15. "Either, or.." - traditionally it would be re-pollarded, cutting above the 'knuckles', but if you go for a thinning out of the regrowth stems I'd stick to approx. 30%, i.e. one in every three(ish) but remember in so doing they will continue to grow in height & diameter. If tree size is an issue, and you don't want to re-pollard, i.e. to original knuckles, you could reduce the regrowth stems in height and start again, in effect, at a higher level, i.e. a high pollard...but this seems a lot of faff for little gain tbh. Good luck whichever way you go...and of course you don't need to go "any way" as you could leave it to grow on / up (unlike Poplars, Limes don;t have a propensity to fail at the knuckles.)

  18. We use trucks .. we tend to chip into bags for the most, we find that it saves a bit of time, and we also deliver chips by the bag load.. small jobs id take my truck with chipper, chip to the bag, load the bags in the truck.. big jobs second truck with trailer, can chip to trailer or bags .. we have never had a problem so far.. dont get me wrong, a tipper, is the standard and were looking at picking up the right one at some stage, but having trucks is workable ..
  19. Good Morning Everyone.
  20. The 1 at the front, same machine model just 1 year newer but smoother on the tracks and hydraulics.
  21. I would have said that it depends on the "waste". Ex FIL got trailer loads from one mill and it was off cuts and bark etc which was stored outside so was very wet. He didn't get the argument that he should have been paid to take that crap away! I got a bench to go on his old Fergie, got the thing working and collected long lengths from Belvoir sawmill and spent a while slicing these off, good exercise and I could put crap into a barrow and put it on the burn heap rather than log shed. It was too much effort for him and I wasn't there that much so we went back to the crap logs! The stuff was sold as "sawmill waste", not as "firewood" as this has to be below a certain moisture content to be sold!
