  3. You can really go wrong... cut it down leave 150mm stumps and it will regrow.. you could cut higher or lower if you wanted. Chances are it will regrow fine regardless
  4. It is very difficult to debate this with you both as our views are so diametrically opposed. You see in Trump and his cronies a strongman who is fighting woke, defending American rights and standing up to the world. I see a deeply corrupt and appalling shit stain of a man, who has surrounded himself with similarly compromised and cruel people, in order to obtain wealth and power at the expense of just about everyone else. He is using the office of President simply to serve his own ends and his election is a depressing reflection of just how stupid and gullible significant chunks of the American electorate are. Not to mention racist, selfish, xenophobic and uneducated. These two positions are so far apart, there is little point in us ever really debating this. Week after week, Trump will be in the news for various horrendous transgressions, all of which you'll dismiss off-hand because they don't emanate from your selected news sources. As time passes, this abject degradation of the office of President, the debasement of American Democracy and the descent into fascism will be normalised and accepted, even by those that oppose the ideology. And these are the kind of anticedent events that give rise to such horrors as WW2. 2025 America = 1933 Germany.

    Spikes

Only tried them for an hour or so. Now I didnt adjust the shin guard, needs to be higher I think but that didnt cause any comfort issues the pads are comfy. The spikes arrived, as expected, blunt and rounded - consider import stuff a loosely assembled box of parts. So last night I watched a quick YT or two and gave them a quick sharpen. Note that I have a lot of experience sharpening tools bht never done spikes before. Best spikes I've ever used. Being sharp makes so much difference. However I was using the original TPU straps, quickly my feet felt like the top was being squashed and I had to take off. New buckle straps will fix that Im certain.

  7. RIP Dickie Bird. Cricket umpire. 91, not a bad innings.
  8. When chainsaw milling, even with a full size loader for the lifting, I find turning logs through 90 degrees and restarting the cut direction a bit challenging. Its easy to go out of square. Generally I start off making thick slabs for lower quality work (posts, outdoor furniture or even a small bridge once). Then I make narrower boards towards the middle where, when they are dried I will remove the heart and call the outsides quarter sawn. Then I make some thick stuff again at the bottom of the log. I re-stack the boards in order so I know what is what. Of course it depends if you have a long enough bar and enough wood to do this.

  11. Premiums can vary a lot depending on coverage limits, claims history, and whether you’re doing consulting or high-risk tree work. I found shopping through brokers helped—especially ones familiar with arborist policies. I also log all client communications and quotes through Phonexa, so I have proof of scope and timing if there’s ever a dispute. It keeps my liability low and my records clean.
  12. Morning all, Hilux frosted over this morning, yet the van isn’t. Parked at different ends of the house, makes a difference. Couple of regular autumn hedges today.

  20. Hi James, do you have any experience with a brushcutter or a chipper? We're based in Ross on Wye and are looking for staff.
  21. Okay I had changed all the hoses for tight fitting ones and fired it up but it died of fuel starvation. I didn't get more done as a small medical mishap set me back for a while plus I was disinclined to do much other than loaf around as summer went past. Getting back into the swing I tested the carburetor and the inlet needle held pressure. When the purge bulb was used it mostly pulled air. I think this is another case of the main jet check valve failing, either by previous use of compressed air or a needle being poked through it. This strimmer is worthless, and I deprecate their use anyway, it's only a challenge to me. Back in the day my saws had no purge bulbs, small hedgecutters and strimmers did, and AFAIK no check valves. I wondered were check valves used before bulbs so I chacked a carb from a 254 and they were. Now back in my thread about the walbro carb in an einhell https://arbtalk.co.uk/forums/topic/133943-walbro-carb-problem/page/8/#findComment-2030690 @bmp01 said he deleted purge systems successfully. Is it possible to also delete/block the main jet check valve so it is only fed from the H screw?? I can see the two idles jet holes in the throttle body would need blocking.
