The regen function connects both ports of a double acting ram to the supply, so the force extending the ram is the hydraulic pressure acting on just the area of the piston rod cross section. The forces on either side of the rest of the piston being equal and opposite. Some log splitters use it to quickly take up the slack before the ram contacts the wood and start the split, once the supply pressure exceeds a limit the rod side of the cylinder is dumped to tank, so the pressure is exerted on the full area of the piston. Gas struts work in this "regen " configuration.

12 foot here too, I've got Brian James though. Based on what people who have ifors tell me the ramps are easier and lighter on mine, and it tows quieter, so I'd definitely suggest looking at both. I tow mine with a 110 hardtop, so I've got the long door mirror stalks fitted to see round it, and then the extra trailer width is not really an issue. Keep thinking about a remap, especially when the trailers full. Always get there though, just need to be patient.

Yep, cut back to your main-frame in autumn/winter keeping and tying in any new growth that you want to extend the frame. When grapes first appear on a spring whip, cut the whip back to the fruit plus one or two leaves. This means all the growth goes into the fruit and not into producing great long leafy whips.

You should have zero up and down movment on the con rod ( big end ) side to side movment ( lateral ) is acceptable, these saws are more suseptable to main bearing cages breaking up not so much big end bearing wear.

I would start with blossom wilt, but check the curled leaves to see if anything in living there. You will need to remove all infected growth, cutting back to healthy wood. I looked in at the BBC Live coverage of the proceedings a couple of times yesterday and yes, ev'tin TW says ^.
