  2. TBH i dont know if there is a few different strains of Ash in the UK may be some one could clarify this,, around me most Ash trees seemed to be doomed with the odd exception, there is some on the playing field at the back of me that are just coming in to leaf and look in very good health to me but 50/60yds away at the other side of the river there are several that have not looked good for a couple of yrs now and if they get many leaves on this summer i will be suprised ?? then another example i noticed a few yr back was a row of 15 ash trees at the side of the rd, the trees would be 25-30yr old 12 where infected with ADB and now been removed and the 3 remaining trees seemed in good health, i have not been past them yet this year but i will make a point of going that way and see how they are this year,,
  3. The tech side of it is above me Gareth My limit is changing the phases or rotation on the mill. I do however have first hand on site knowledge of what is going on by whom and at who’s benefit from the offshore wind free for all cash cow. Green energy 😂the Apollo Spirit currently doing a roaring trade uses over 300tons a day of heavy fuel oil, it’s one of many vessels doing the heavy lifting worldwide and around our coast, not a single of of which is registered or crewed from the UK. The Chinese steel made from coal powered furnaces being shipped halfway around the world certainly ain’t being brought here on sailing ships neither. As 42 says know your audience eh 🤷‍♂️deluded.

  5. Run mine off an IH 674 which is probably small rather than medium sized in todays terms. My flail is actually a 280, so is bigger than the one in that particular link. I've abused it to feck and it takes it all, I bought it mostly to pulverise the prunings in my orchards. Claimed to be able to cope with 6" and I'd say it does but if you want it completely gone it might take more than one pass.
  6. The police are worse than anyone else in this. They flat out refused to believe the victims in Newcastle when another mate brought the thing to their attention in the early 2000's. Nothing but contempt for the filth, my mate was a copper, they hung him out to dry after 29 years and 9 months service, then he blew his own head off.

  8. Nothing to apologise for. Willows are the Rasputin of trees. Short of separating its molecules and salting the earth, you won’t kill it. Hack it any way you like. It’ll grow back. The Welshfred plan sounds good to me. Bit of space to stoop underneath. Can’t help you with the house proximity besides an utterly anecdotal looks fine to me.

  11. I had Cologne, Kneel, List!
  12. I ordered some Chinese bits and they didn’t work. How about a 309 dolmar coil and flywheel?
  13. I think the price is fair honestly. Guess the market will decide?
  14. The Trametes are growing on the dead wood, and shouldn't affect the living wood. The important bit is where the living and dead wood meet, providing that the callus growth is intact, and separating the two, the tree is probably fine. Same with the buttresses, providing the structural wood is intact, small bits of decay between the buttresses will have little consequences.

It will definitely be pennies per square metre! Probably between 3 and 4.
  16. yes the tree surgeon should have investigated yes the sales contract probably should have picked it up if the felled tree was dead or dangerous you can have it under exemption the missing trees probably were felled under similar exemptions probably worth having a local tree surgeon help dig into where the missing ones went and straighten it up with the council sharpish so they dont hit you with it at a later date.
  17. How many gangs and what machines do you run mate?
  18. Why don’t you post some photos so we can see what is on offer? Also it might make a difference if you are able to arrange haulage.

  20. Hi all, I’m a teacher at Cuckmere House School in Seaford, and we’re setting up a new forest school area for our students. I’m hoping some kind local tree surgeons or arborists might be able to help us out with some natural materials. We’re looking for: Log stools or cut trunk sections suitable for children to sit on (see first photo) Log slices/discs for crafts and play (second photo) Any large log sections or simple planks that could be used as low benches or balance beams (third photo) If you have any suitable offcuts or surplus wood from recent jobs, we’d love to give them a new home in our outdoor learning space. We can arrange collection from anywhere in the Seaford/East Sussex area. Thanks Dave
  21. How old was the plug? Arbs are known for only changing things after they fail, or not at all, and just buying a new one... If the aspen is more volatile, that would be the difference. Pump fuel usually has different blends for summer and winter to aid starting, and reduce evaporation. I assume aspen/husq do the same but the timing may be different. Could be same mix all year, but that would suprise me. I havent looked into it, Im happy on pump fuel.
  22. Not bow stave material but an impressive tree I spotted out and about today nonetheless. Looks like it regenerated from the hollow centre at some point, (probably centuries ago!).
  23. It's been 6 months since last newsletter - that has got to change! News - we are revamping the CSB website and we should be able to re launch the new version around Feb/March 2025. Now to around July 2025 and when it does launch it will be alongside the existing one... still lots to do and it's about as interesting making a website as it is doing newsletters! The end result will be very slick! We have loads of stock to clear but it's tricky knowing the best way of doing it with so many chains - as a starter we need to sell all the .325 .043[1.1mm] chains that are guarded to make way for the unguarded version which will be unique to us. Buy 1 and get 2 free - yep makes them pretty much disposable find them here. Use voucher code 325 in the basket and it should take off 66% of the price on these. These take up so much space so get a bargain - £160+vat off - find them here: Eco-42 42″ Ecomill Eco-8ft-J 8ft 1st Cut System [Comes as x2 joinable 4ft sections] Eco-V Vertical Mill [for bars up to 25″] Eco-AO Eco Oiler FREE WINCH KIT! Take the strain of chainsaw milling with this included winching kit. Use the voucher code KIT in the basket. How about a 25" Bar - x8 chains, drive rim, spare nose all for £98+vat? Reason I don't think we'll continue with the Panther 050 concept in the 3/8 bars - these bars run 3/8 .050 chain. Find this offer here - This will fit: STIHL 029, MS290, 034, MS340, MS341, 036, MS360, MS361, MS362, 038, MS380, MS381, 039, MS390, MS391, 041, 044, MS440, MS441, 045, MS450, MS451, 046, MS460, MS461, 048, 065, MS650, MS651, 064, MS640, MS641, 066, MS660, MS661, MS500i HUSQVARNA [FITS WITH GB912 ADAPTER CLICK HERE] 61, 64, 65, 66, 70, 77, 160, 162, 163, 180, 181, 185, 260, 263, 266, 268, 272, 280, 281, 285, 288, 298, 365, 365XP, 371, 372XP, 380, 385XP, 390XP, 394XP, 395XP, 562XP, 575XP, 576XP All the best and thanks for your ongoing custom it is much appreciated.
