Yeah that's a bummer. I have Husqvarna and echo batteries. Two batteries for the echo is ample for 99% of jobs. I've perhaps ran out of battery 3 times in 4 years for so I've used it and just use the 540ixp for the last bit of the day

couple of rare ones on ebay at present, Dolmar KMS4 Rotary. 1k starting bid, [got that already] and Echo CS 610EVL £1500 start, [originally listed at £2500, and recently reduced] never found an echo twin that ran, coils usually failed.

100% correct and pretty much my view. Strange how when you point out the anatomy of a white tail is pretty much the same as any of our native species it’s apparently a sign I know nothing of deer control 🤷♂️🤔. I’m not sure if I was confronted by any actual facts neither, just someone boasting about long range shots and cloverleaf groups when running home loads, nothing factual at all in reality. Next time I’m out I’ll stick to the safe option and leave the head/ear shots for those who apparently have the shooting prowess required. Wrong thread as well, those who want to boast about their shooting should maybe pop over to “ show us your guns”. Very surprised the site auditor hasn’t jumped in on the latter point, seeing as he’s watching my posts and timings and has a history of accusing people of “ diverting a thread “ could it be there’s some double standards on here 😂very much dependant on your political views.

Stihl MS261 and MS460. Both saws got clogged up and I had to flush out the tanks, lines and bar oil pumps inside the saws. I had done this before, so its not through lack of maintenance. Its the pretty standard ISO 100 stuff. I admit its a bit odd, they have been fine since I thinned out the bar oil.

I would have said that it depends on the "waste". Ex FIL got trailer loads from one mill and it was off cuts and bark etc which was stored outside so was very wet. He didn't get the argument that he should have been paid to take that crap away! I got a bench to go on his old Fergie, got the thing working and collected long lengths from Belvoir sawmill and spent a while slicing these off, good exercise and I could put crap into a barrow and put it on the burn heap rather than log shed. It was too much effort for him and I wasn't there that much so we went back to the crap logs! The stuff was sold as "sawmill waste", not as "firewood" as this has to be below a certain moisture content to be sold!

Hi there, I have a Lime tree that was topped maybe 20 or so years ago. My question is can it be thinned out, leaving most of the tree there or should it be cut back to the knuckle? Thanks, G

Can anyone recommend a manual tyre changing tool for small tyres?
Macpherson replied to Muddy42's topic in Maintenance help
Or if you were really stuck you could do this, but proper tyre lube makes it easier. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWd5vwUeYno -

Pezzolato PTH 700 biomass wood chipper PTH 700 is one of the medium power Pezzolato machines. The design of the conical hopper (without bottlenecks that tend to trap the material), combined with a catenary system able to move the material directly to the drum, allows feeding of bulk material. The large fan mounted directly on the drum shaft is able to work at a low speed to help reduce dust and increase wood chip quality. Each standard installation includes a single axis trailer which provides compactness and increases agility and manoeuvrability in tight spaces. The wear parts of all machines are cost effective and simple to replace in short maintenance times. The drum with cutting system interchangeable where required, makes these chippers ideal for the production of wood chips used with domestic boilers, large power plants or gasifiers. The integrated computer suggests any ordinary and extraordinary maintenance operations to be performed according to the manufacturer’s maintenance. Diesel engine power: 200/149 - 413/308hp/kW Max chipping diameter soft wood: 500mm / 19.69'' Max chipping diameter hard wood: 640 x 600mm / 25.20 x 23.62'' Knives: 3 Hourly throughput: until 80m³/h Drum diameter: 660mm / 25.98'' Drum width: 640 mm / 25.20'' Hooked steel feeding conveyor width: 640mm / 25.20'' Hooked steel feeding conveyor length: 2200mm / 7' 2.61'' Weight: 8,200kg / 18,078lbs£98,000

Alright all. I'm pretty new to carving, over the past few years I've done a handful of pieces mainly just because I like doing it. I've never really tried to sell my work but I would like to start. I've not invested loads of money in it, still just playing with a stock bar and die grinder with a couple of different burrs but it'd be nice to recover some of my fuel costs if poss. My question is, those of you who do sell your work, how and where do you do it? Is it better to carve up things in advance on the hope people might buy them or do you mainly get commissions? I've stuck on some photos to give you an idea of where I'm at with it. Thanks in advance. WhatsApp Vidéo 2025-09-01 à 13.29.23_6efc7c2a.mp4

How are you all getting these slabs to dry flat? I don't even bother slabbing now because anything that has the pith in turns into an Escher painting after a few months on the stack.

Hi Dan It does make a difference, that's why we asked. We are trying to only post on a Friday, with whatever we are promoting on our socials and emails. I do notice that when we update the classifieds, they all pop up in the unread posts. As these run out after 2 weeks, I've started to try to spread them out so it's not too much at once. I can't control this as it's an Arbtalk thing. Pricing-wise, we should always be cheaper as we are only there to move on end-of-line products or out-of-packaging products. We will have a think and discussion on how to be more engaging in our content - any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you for your feedback, it is valuable to us as it should be for any business.

I would think the oil bath air filter would be a no no due to you needing to use the grinder on slopes etc. Have a look at the Chinese Honda copies for a replacement (Lifan etc). About half the price, electric start versions available. Obviously check crankshaft length/diameter before ordering. The foam sleeve that goes over the paper air filter element is an important part of the set up if working in dusty environment. It needs to be dipped in clean oil and squeezed out at regular intervals after washing out in petrol to catch any dust etc. before reaching the paper filter.
