Sorry I missed all the messages. I've gone ahead now and ordered a Peterson 10" WPF due for delivery in May.

For completeness....here are the bar/chain specs for the 550i if anyone is interested. Four different bar/chain combinations, two in full chisel and two in semi-chisel in either 1.3 mm or 1.5 mm gauge. When Mick gets his bigger battery, technically it could carry a 20" bar and chain!!!! For how long though....who knows?

Quite. Don't let the books suggest that pinpoint pH is vital. What's more important to the OP than slight acidity is drainage; walnuts won't stand in wet ground.

I love this little scene. Watch David Jason struggle not to laugh at Uncle Albert.

Thanks all for the feedback. Looked at the cheapies on Amazon, but not overly enthused. Have found a very good second hand pair from someone selling their business. All sorted for now until I head back to Africa to recover all my gear! Cheers

Morning all, someone in the UK has asked me about a magnolia growing right next to their house wall. It's a late 17th century, stone rubble building located in the Melksham area. The tree is approx 3.5m tall with a trunk circumference of 50cm. They want to remove the tree completely. The location is sighted as an area of subsidence risk - this would be my main concern, but I am not familiar with root swell on magnolias + these old houses have shallow, direct load foundations (effectively a trench filled with stone). I know it's not a big tree, but any advise would be welcome. Please see photos for reference. IMG_1016.HEIC IMG_1017.HEIC IMG_1018.HEIC

Sorry you had to lose it but it was the right choice. -
~Not sure I deserve too much praise as the joinery was simple compared to what you guys get up to but credit goes to these sealing strips which I used all round and have kept wind and rain out for a decade and a half and since I live on top of a hill in an old windmill , although the brick tower we live In was built in 1812 there has been one on the site since the late 1200s, they knew it was windy here! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sunwood-Screw-Down-Aluminium-Intermediate-Capping/dp/B01NCEM5JQ/ref=asc_df_B01NCEM5JQ?mcid=29392b532cb93a5dacd8b4ad848b049b&tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=697257633820&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15526614851363187047&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046643&hvtargid=pla-956020270734&hvocijid=15526614851363187047-B01NCEM5JQ-&hvexpln=0&gad_source=1&th=1

We looked at apps and ended up going the other way. Most of the software was either overkill, expensive, or a pain for lads on site. We now run a standardised RAMS, COSHH and plant & equipment pre-use check system that we reuse job-to-job and tailor per site. It works well for principal contractor work and commercial sites and its easy to submit. We still use external LOLER where required, but having consistent pre-use checks and RAMS in place keeps everything aligned. Apps sound good in theory, but paperwork is still reviewed by people who we've found mainly want clarity and consistency rather than another login. Happy to explain how we’ve structured it if it helps.

Trump is funny in underwear. BUT: I would love to never see or hear of him ever again. As if this orange menace never existed! But what scares me more is: what disaster "son of his" MIGHT come if he does kick the bucket? And the world must endure not 3-4 more years but 3-4 DECADES of trumpism ?! Somebody must learn to shoot better 😁 Or use FPV drones a lot better than even the best ukrainian drone operator!

As for energy oil, gas: there's too much of it! Now and in the future... stop kidding yourselves with this "renewable" horse sht! In Europe wind farms are IN DEBT ,they barely recover investment because there is too much wind and no storage. The power lines again aren't capable of transmiting it where it is needed... BUT we ,the consumers are ripped off ,pay you stupids everything we say and shut up... 🤔 https://oilprice.com/Energy/Crude-Oil/Oils-Problem-Isnt-Iran-or-Russia-Its-Too-Much-Oil.html

Serious gear all of a sudden! 650ml is a weird size can too. Not a forty but clearly goes to the same church.

All of the parcels were tracked24 which are a priority service so they shouldn't have been pushed to the back to the broom cupboard. I think that its fairly safe to say that someone has helped themselves and listed some cheap arb gear on ebay.

Meetings with remarkable trees, the Arbtalk version

How close to ground level does the chestnut emerge? I wonder if its seed (and subsequent roots) were/are entangled with the alder and the two stems have grown up in contact with each other - the faster growing alder has subsequently engulfed the chestnut. I think you need to cut it down and show us some cross sections…….. (please don’t - it’s ace!!) -
I use 9mm stokbroad in 8x4 sheets, ran 21m boom lift over it and 26m spider no problem. Moving it on site is done with long hooks to save my back. Must of had them 10 years and still going.

no thats cool. Tbh id never heard of the issues until it stopped moving. Apparently i got lucky as it can rip off the hydraulic line and that would have been a disaster due to been on a posh driveway! All well in the end though. Cheers
