  1. Not common its quite a specialist tree to grow/find. Nothofagus Obliqua from Chile/Argentina.
  2. Sounds horrific. Thank you for sharing this advice. I do hope you can get things sorted out.
  3. Very nice looking wood there. That should sell for a pretty penny!๐Ÿ‘
  4. I spent two years trying to get stickers for my milled boards. (I tried a number of different things, such as cutting up pallets and using the boards, but that was a lot of hassle) I got help from a friend who ran me off about 100 last year, they soon went. I have a local mill to me, I asked them if they could sell me some bulk lots. They wanted ยฃ1.40 per metre for stickers. I decided in the end to make some 1inch pine boards with my chainsaw mill and then cut 1" strips with a skill saw. Bit of work. With a table saw, life would be even better. Might invest in a small one soon. But being able to make your own stickers makes everything worth while. I now just make my own and sticker away. But buying a bandsaw mill would certainly be the most efficient option. ๐Ÿ‘
  5. Thanks Spud. for some reason I did not see your answer till now. The fuel was leaking before I changed the fuel line. I put in new fuel line which was a tight fit. Not OEM as I didn't have any on me, I wanted to see if changing the line would make any difference to it leaking but it is still leaking. That's when I checked online to find out about the vent. It seems the push in vent may not actually be in place. I only see the plastic pipe and no end on it. I need to investigate more to see if that is the case. But now that you mention the 2 parts, it may be that the end of the vent is not in there. Ok will check it out and post a pic based on your diagnosis. Cheers again. ๐Ÿ‘
  6. I have replaced the fuel line on my 365 special as it started going a bit brittle and when I fill the tank fuel drips out of the machine. Doesn't happen while using the saw only when fueling and on its side. Seems to me the fuel tank vent is dodgy. What's the best way to take out the old vent to be able to replace it? Cheers.
  7. Had a visit from the Egyptians the other day.
  8. Could be good to mill. I would say cut it into sections 8-10โ€™ long, you could do a range of board sizes. If you want to make posts out of some of it, you could do some a little over 4โ€ thick and then saw it to size later or even thicker. should get quite a few slabs out of that.
  9. A family of hybrid geese turned up. Greylag x Canada. Makes for interesting colours and markings.
  10. Staying light till about 5pm now. More daylight is always handy.
  11. -5 this morning, went up as high as 1 degree today. Back down to -3 now.
  12. Quite right.๐Ÿ‘
  13. Haix seem to be good for me size wise. Size 9 same as all my other boots.
  14. Haix trekker mountain 2.0 are good for waterproof boots if you keep them waxed with good old dubbin. same as protector pro class 1 boots. I imagine safer than wellies and a lot more comfortable. Though quite heavy.
  15. Get a Husqvarna 572XP then you will have all the power you need, if you get bigger trees you can put a 32" bar on it with a fullskip chain and still have lots of power...๐Ÿ‘ For the power it is a light saw and much better than Stihl saws...... ๐Ÿ˜„
  16. They look better than mine. Very tidy job. Not sure what they were like before but they have a good open centre and will produce good fruit if continued to be looked after. ๐Ÿ‘
  17. Ok. will give it a go. I did get through the last lot of pine I had between using lo pro chain and full skip .404 ripping. But it took some doing and couldn't just go full throttle. Had to do it fairly slowly and keep revs down to make it through. ๐Ÿ‘
  18. I've got some monster pine logs to mill up, had to take down a 100 or so year old pine. I am wondering if it is going to be worth trying a full chisel chain on it. The semi chisel/ripping chains I have used so far have been really catchy, had same trouble milling up the big poplar with oregon ripping chain full skip on the 881. Got through it all, but a bit painful. Any thoughts from your many years of saw milling experience mate? ๐Ÿ‘
