  1. Thought I would do a bit of Christmas bank holiday milling. Not a lot else going on. Finished off two more sections. One big section left to go of the Black Poplar.
  2. free water up the Highlands. If you find the right spring. 👍
  3. Makita Coffee machine (cordless jobby). Fleeces for work. 👍
  4. Had the Lumag HC15 Pro wee chipper out this morning. Got through some oak nicely.
  5. Yes the bar is a fair cost. Ok. No worries, if I come into some money after Christmas, I might have a rethink. 👍
  6. if you were going to sell, what would you want for it? I have the 64" bar and chain already. Don't know if I need another 64" bar to be fair. I can PM you if you prefer.
  7. I use the ladder on every pass. Find it’s quicker and easier. Keeps the mill on the same set up and just cut away. No Need to keep fiddling with dimensions. 👍
  8. Hard to tell what they are but seems like it could be redwings in those numbers.
  9. Didn’t have a lot of time, but got through another good sized bit of pop. I know, I know, Panther Mill is on the wish list to get. 👍🤣
  10. Brilliant shots. You get a better selection of birds up there by the looks. 👍 what are you using to shoot?
  11. Cold this morning before the rain set in.
  12. Bit more milling yesterday. Some chunky rot pockets on the bit.
  13. Giving us -7 over here tonight. At -4 just now. Shiver me timbers 🥶👍
  14. Yeah mate. I shouldn’t have bothered. 🤣 👍 the next sections are big! Could take me a while. It’s pretty fibrous to cut through. Haven’t found the ideal ripping chain for fibrous would yet.
  15. If you don’t screw the ladder down there will be a lot more vibration I would say. Also don’t know if the ladder would stay where you want it. 👍
  16. Yes keeps it all straight, etc... I prefer doing it that way personally. Have tried without and find the mill has more friction on the wood surface than the metal on metal. So have done it like that for the last 3 years to a good result. Yes some small holes in the wood, but that's of no consequence really as they close up somewhat and there are all sorts of imperfections in timber anyway. 👍
  17. Yep. Much easier with the ladder on each cut I find. Especially when coming off at the end.
  18. More black poplar. 2 more larger sections to go.
  19. Yep same -6 here with a breeze. Time to buy an alpaca wool onesie I think 😂
  20. Started on the black poplar. Very nice I reckon.
  21. Looks like the tree is rotting from the inside. Have seen that occur on oak where the ground levels have been messed about with. But not seen it bad like that tree. also depending on the fungi, would give an idea of what’s going on. If the tree was somewhere in a field or something then less targets, but right by a house. Seems a little bit odd that a survey would say nothing to worry about.
  22. Crikey mate that’s some monster oak slabs. 👍
  23. I think I’m going to find some nice slabs in that then. 👍
