  1. Flipping Nora Gentleman !! this is deeply depressing reeding for a 49 yr old who is looking down the barrel of 50 !! Ok so I'm one yr off being eligible to post..So shoot ..me and get it over with ..Quick !!
  2. Ahh..right .. You should be ok then if your not replacing the hole line from carb to tank filter. The pig tail lets the filter move about and sit predominantly at the best point to pick up fuel whatever position the saw is in.
  3. Just one bit of advice …try to get the filter in the tank in its final position lying on the bottom as the Tygon isn't as flexible as the rubber lines you get. You will pick up fuel better as the tank empties.
  4. Hi Ben Try looking up "Tygon Fuel Line" I use it for many saws and mowers where its cost prohibitive to find the original and you can find a way to seal the tank hole around the new line you make up . You will find it in many sizes, I use the yellow one.
  5. Thats the thing on Ebay as i understand how it works.. Email through them seems to be your first and only point of contact with seller/Buyer. Have been lucky so far with contacts but am sort of waiting for the first load of aggro.
  6. 1986 if my memory serves me… the 111 's are from the same family as the 115 .
  7. Unusual to see the hole thing in orange isn't it Jon..Mk 1 only then black and orange.
  8. Has the 111i gone by the wayside now Andrew ?
  9. My equivalent to your 520 is the 111. Mk 1... 3.3 hp 52cc ,gets used for pallet munching ,lovely and lite.
  10. Same as Stubby…Oregon is good stuff. I use there LPX chain in 3/8 and .325 sizes and there bars are better than the average for lasting iv found. Sugi is the mutts nuts though but you will pay a bit in the start..ok if you have one or two saws I guess. Windsor bars and chain are also made in the same factory as Orogen i believe .. iv got there Windsor roll-top bars . Stihl bars seem to be very decent as well as there oil O matic chain…Full chisel is my choice mostly and i tend to put Sthil bars on Sthil saws.
  11. Do you notice folks where you are tend not to conceder Echo on there own merit regardless of any price difference ?
  12. [/ATTACH] Iv not had such a "original " and from what i can see"new regardless of age" 024 on the bench. This saw seems to have hardly any use in its life and has hardly a mark on it ! Its the closest to a NEW mid 90s o24 iv had eyes or a spanner on. There are even the assembly paint dots on some screws still showing they haven't moved. Even has some of the protective film attached to the rivets on the top cover and pull cord cover and not any parts that aren't genuine Stihl! So nice to work on something that has nothing broken or worn on it.
  13. My comment about the 420 being a fav of yours was one of friendly sarcasm due to the fact that I'm itching to try one out myself :thumb up: The newness of the dolmar saws iv got stops at the 115i and works back to 111 and 109 . I like the build and materials used plus the 115 is such a strong little beggar I'm just wanting to test out some of the new ones myself. Mostly Stihl and Husqvarna come in but not 1 new Dolly, so time to put money where mouth is and shell out on one for evaluation.
  14. 115i I have …420 is on the list to try out once i can shift some Stihls . I believe the 420 is a personal fav of yours then ? cant think why
  15. There are plenty of good saws in the 50cc bracket ether second hand or new and its a sure bet we all have our personal favourites. Your budget may fix what you can chose from ..second hand will get you more saw for any given amount you spend as long as you chose something that is up together. Stihl ..Husqvarna,Dolmar,Jonsered, Echo …all worth looking at. You will be shocked how good the 50cc saws are compared to a Stihl 181 !
  16. That would brake the bank just now I'm afraid ! Think il be looking for a more..how shall i put it…Budget model for now

    Lighting

Cant help with reviewing the site lights. But.. You could try LED Chip floods as a less intense and power saving alternative. I have 12w x2 pointing down on a bench and 1 x20w over another. The watts are the consumption but the lumina output is way higher. Have conventional strip lights as a overall light then turn on the LED's for when I'm at the benches.
  18. That looks decidedly posh !! costly per chance ?
  19. That seems consistent with what iv found out so far..100 w seems the place to start. Not sure if thats the heating side or the transducer side ..couldn't have a butchers on yours for the outputs could you ?

    Torque =???

You could use what you have as a reference to the figures your looking at on the new trucks. Have a look at what your current truck is and see how it compares with the outputs of BHP and Torque of the short listed ones ..should give you a feel for what to expect in comparison. One other thing on top of all the spot on info that has been mentioned is..Just how darn "drivable" a vehicle is with a good toque output from "low" down and up into the 4000rpm range is when we are talking a work truck. Grunt low down wins in the enjoyable and non frustrating stakes , so the more the better ..as long as the drive train ..IS ..up to it .
  21. Am looking into getting a ultrasonic Cleaner of around 2 ltrs in size for carbs and small components . Wondering if anyone has got/uses, or can recommend any. Have seen a EUMAX and a SONICTUNE so far that look better than the cheeper end of whats available.
  22. If you fancy something a little different to Japanese made then I highly recommend "METABO" . Iv got cordless kit and there grinders are very typically German built.
  23. Hope it turns out to be of help..
