  1. I don't/didn't sugest a lack of care by your good self ...merely that the bracket /adjuster is the weakest link...possibly by design and maybe a good thing. From carrying the weight of the mower plus shock /jolting from usage along with moving it about as you described ,better it takes the brunt of the w & tare maybe. No argument from me that things should be made properly ,just that sometimes a week link is a useful thing ...just like a shear bolt has its place .
  2. "A rubbish design " I am not putting forward a contradiction to your comment in this post, I would just like to put a idea on the table. There is another possibility maybe. The wheels on any mower are open to being thumped regardless of how careful you or anyone else is. The pivot bracket you have to replace may be showing the classic "metal fatigue" with a eccentric loaded mounting. Early in the mowers life ??..maybe... that could be why you are not so chuffed . All fair reasoning..But.. another way of looking at this could be . The design of the wheel bracket /adjuster is the weakest link ..On Propose !! It may bend ..it may brake..but should save the deck mounting from taking the breakage, thus the large and expensive frame of the mower ..hopefully stays in tact and a easy/cheep to replace component is your end result. Its one way to design a mower...not the only way of corse.
  3. Husqvarna : 254 xp 262xp 350 42 special Stihl: Ms 361 Dolmar: 111 Not on any order of preference , just like them all.
  4. Well boys we have a runner. This mower is a perfect example of neglect /no servicing and poor storage also in a strange way a testament to Kazz as a maker that it saveable as a usable machine. The amount of rust on the rear wheel hight adjusters has caused seizure and took some freeing up. In fact the rust is awful at the back !!This leads me into the drive loss after engagement issue. This is my best guess at what was going on. Both the 2 speed actuator and the drive actuator, inc the plunger that is pushed to move the dog clutch inside the gearbox , were near immovable ! What appeared to be happening was a "sort of" engagement of drive and then me trying the 1st to 2nd moment caused the mechanism to find a "no mans land " in-between gears due to the mechanism not moving through its full range. Both the cables have a spring involved and therefore isn't a direct hard pull on the gearbox linkages so by Freeing off...cleaning and lubricating all works a treat. Have finished a full covers off service /sharpen /blade clutch check and a oil change we have a result. The oil was like treacle !!
  5. Another one of those " Oh it works ok ...just needs a service " Jobs !! Will Clean the thing off tomorrow so i can "actually" see the shaft drive and the top of the deck !
  6. I learnt to put things in trays very fast after that little mistake. Shaft all the way to the gearbox on the 4 wheeled Kaaz then...my mistake , never had one in before. Possibly gearbox issue then as it takes up drive firmly and shortly after it lessens off and then has none. Clutch in G box is my thought if there is no belt to slip.
  7. Carb diaphram in a 024 was my refit of a old part !! funny how it ran just as bad after the new kit was installed :big grin: Hope the eye is ok? .May be giving you a bell for some parts for your favourite Kaaz Honda in a day or 2 if thats ok. Pos belt ..not sure yet as came in today and only gave it a spin round to get a idea of how sick it is...no service in ..Oooou 6yrs !!
  8. Oh No !!! you didn't did you , Old seal ? Thats just "Cruel" on top of a sore eye ...
  9. I could be wrong but I think they are" Buckler Boots " Scotland's finest if they are ? Iv got a pair or 2 just like them :big grin: Wee pooch is a little cracker , had one almost the same.

    Husky 350

Have had 3 so far and would get another without hesitation. With the mods Spud said about they have a noticeable step up in response and power. They rev even in standard tune to 13000 free and have 3.1 hp ..there not heavy ether plus have spring AV's. There a decent semi pro Husqvarna , plenty of spares around new and second hand. 351 ...if you can find one is a mag ally case version but the polymer 350 is no bother. One thing..needs the plastic intake clamp upgrading if its not been done ...later ones had a primmer bulb as well.
  11. Thanks for that...i came to the same conclusion on initial inspection and looking at IPL . Im getting a new muffler and will mod the old one so il pull the old one apart and find out its construction.
  12. If you don't mind me asking....The cat delete ...was it a case of cutting it out from the existing muffler or did it lift out and then you resembled the unit ?
  13. Interesting....have just been doing the same and mine needed a double D. Zama carb ?
  14. Oooops....that was a badly timed comment by yours truly ! I maybe should have said ... My postman. (Disclaimer) " Other less successful postmen /woman are available "
  15. Thats not strictly true...Dolmar are a German saw maker of Long ! standing and Makita had/have there blue versions made by them. The Dolmar orange /red/...Black saws are all Dolmar. Mikita i believe are now the parent company but its NOT Makita who make Dolmar...Other way round. I might not be 100% right , others will chime in I'm sure .
  16. X 3... And (postman included)
  17. As far as i can see... the new clutch cover is a simple …take your one off and replace with the non 445e clutch cover. Your saw came in standard and "e" setup. Pt number looks to be 544 09 79-01. You can go to anywhere that can get you genuine Husq parts and use the number. All the best
  18. Most has been said already but I wonder if there is a connection to something with the air filter cleaning. That was the time it changed from a runner to what you have now. Throttle Linkage …wire connection to carb or on off switch..sh&& into the carb when disconnecting filter...??? Im clutching at straws here but I would be re tracing your steps to the point it stopped behaving .
  19. Air impact wrench is the way I go…no piston stop needed ..plug left in and if real stubborn take pull start off and hold the flywheel with a leather glove.
  20. If your diligent enough to get the shape right so the filter mates up then i dare say you could. If its taken a knock that " hard ! " to do the damage then personally I would be checking on the carb mounts and the general aria. The new filter mount might be the best way to go though.
  21. Those are the ones that play on the mind right enough ! After all the tests and checks and "Still " there seems nothing wrong. A new carb you would take as a datum point ..Why wouldn't you..Its New ! Good to get that one out of your head I'm sure and with the number of saws that go through your hands the fact " 1 " has been this much trouble shows logical deduction and tests work 99.99% .
  22. Well that explains a lot …It is the baby one in the Kombi range and i personally wouldn't use it for more than lighter work. The chap has a chainsaw head and hedge cutter for it as well ! The scrub blade is on a straight shaft with gearbox not a bent shaft strimming.
  23. This one is a combo unit and on a scrub blade so i tuned it with that assembled. The sound was just the same as one of the bigger Stihl saws that have a rev limiting coil on them and is going bad. Most odd !! Thanks for the info Barrie
  24. Pleasure …feedback please as and when
