Birch pollen affects me the worst in spring,the grass isnt that bad as long as i take an anti histamine. Some great advice on this thread

Piriton is the brand name but you can buy the exact same product at asda.Asdas own brand costs a 1/5 of the price of piriton and its the same product.

Just get an anti histamine tablet,the 2 most common are loratadine or cetirizine hydrocloride.Both these are anti allergy so will make those hayfever symptoms go away. One thing i would advise is too see your doctor as you may have asthma.I developed asthma in my latter years brought on by living in a damp house many years back. Also having your lungs exposed to wood fibres,petrol fumes and the like may be having an effect mate. Best be safe and get youself checked out. Make time mate,work will be there tomorrow,ur healths more important

If your mainline is chokered around the stem with a bowline or a biner then as you ascend the grigri would be kinda hangin loose but your flipline is your point of contact,the grigri would only be tightend against the biner/bowline as a safety precaution incase you gaff out while using the saw or need to descend in an emergency.

Ive seen a grigri been used in a single line application for descent instead of a hitch.Ive never tried this so ive no idea if a grigri is rated for such an application.

I dont really use a back up when spiking up a stem to be honest,until i get too a tie in point.You can choker a cambium saver around a stem and feed your rope through that so in an emergency you can descend quickly.Bit of a faff though Remember though the prussik is just too catch you if you gaff out,decending in an emergency would require a back up to the prussik.

There is no right or wrong answer here just preference. I prefer full chisel,faster cutting but slightly higher on havs and easier to dull,bit more hassle to sharpen.Semi chisel is more forgiving,easier to sharpen,can take a bit more abuse without dulling and less vibs. Depends on the user and application really. But in time you will have your own preference.

Its a hard one,if it was ground work id say do it but climbing is hard going.Older guys can do it but it helps to have the experience that makes you quicker/more productive in the tree without trashing your body. You can pick up work grounding and take it from there,if your relativley fit and strong minded you can accomplish anything...age is a factor but its not a major hurdle in my opinion. Good luck mate
