  1. Thanks everyone for your responses, advice & encouragment. A green light it is.
  2. Hi All, I'm looking at a career change following an end of long term contract. I've been looking into arb work & appreciate I gotta start from the bottom etc. However, even tho I'm fit, am I past it at 50, or will a determined attitude prevail? I know I'm no 20 something, but I'd prefer to be doing something active - especially after teaching climbing for the past 10 years. Because of a pay off, I can self fund for tickets & PPE etc. Cheers, npg
  3. I wanted to go to the college at Moreton Morrell, but with working shifts, I wouldn't be able to go to each session - every Tuesday. So I spoke to the Arb Assoc and they suggested the Horticulture Correspondence College. I'm trying to build up my CV with vocational and academic qualifications and get plenty of practical experience. Regards, npg
  4. Hello Everyone, I'm currently employed full time on shifts (6 on, 4 off) and am looking to get into arboriculture. I don't want to give up the day job (credit crunch etc) but am looking to try and get any work experience possible. I'm arranging to get NPTC's C/S 30 & 31 soon, chipper operator and plan on C/S 38 & 39 when appropriate. I'm also sorting out starting the RFS level 2 certificate in arboriculture. I'm based in the Midlands (North Warwickshire) and can travel. I totally appreciate that I'll be grafting, but am looking to get as much experience as poss. Can anyone assist or give any advice? Cheers, npg
