  8. I used ascenders on my cs38 course, its not technical or am i missing something here? He will be taught hip thrusting so he will be aware of that method
  9. Yeah thanks:001_smile:
  10. This is true and you will be taught this method on your course however body thrusting is very unergonomic and can have longterm detremental effects on your joints.
  11. The gadgets your refering to that we put on our feet (ankles actually) are called ascenders. There are many available for different climbing set ups. The most common are foot ascenders, petzl pantin and the ct quickstep are the 2 ive used and probably the most common.Climbing ropes is made a hellva lot easier by utilizing the biggest groups of muscles in the body ie your legs. A climb wall is a pretty good way of gettin your body used to being used in a climbing discipline, there are obvious differences in tree/rock or wall climbing but it will help your body get stronger and get you fitter. Rock climbers climb rocks and use ropes as a back up incase they fall where as tree surgeons mostly climb ropes or climb around branches in the canopy. It sort of like training for football by doing rugby...some of it is transfereable but big differences. Any kind of fitness is good so id say why not. Im not sure what your refering too by saying rope and rigging kit though. Can you explain a bit better mate
  12. You can get cut proof jackets or cut proof sleeves. Personally id say both are pretty much redundant though i know of some company worksites that insit on type c trousers and cut proof sleeves all year round.

  21. Its definetly a tricky one and it would appear there is no definate answer.I can only comment on what we are instructed to do when we come across nests. If a nest is spotted before work commences the job in question is called off until after nesting season. If a nest is uncovered whilst working in the tree, the nest is inspected for eggs or chicks. The result of the inspection obviously determines the work re commencing or being halted. I have been on jobs subbing for private firms where nests were moved to allow work to continue.
  22. Turf tiger would be ideal for those types of plots
