Yeah i think it takes a bit of tinkering too get it to run sweet.Change cams and see if that helps then id say its just gettin used to it mate.

What diameter of rope are you using,the reason i ask is im pretty sure the SJ3 has interchangable cams for different rope diameters.

The qualifications you require really depends on where you intend to seek employment. If your lookin for work with a tree surgeon id say a trailer ticket and chipper course would be more adventagous than the forestry. If your goin down the forestry route then id say medium tree felling ticket would be a priority.

Id highly recommend you get your harness loler inspected. Is it worth the risk? As you say it looks solid but are you an expert at spotting potentially fatal flaws in arb equipment? Loler inspection for a kit is around 60 -80 quid

Theyre all pretty rubbish,as above red pfanners are decent or the orange gripz if its wet. In dry warmer months bare hands,got to build up those callouses

Yeah thats the stuff,get the matt black though not the crackle effect stuff.You can get a plastic primer from amazon too im sure. My wife got the stuff i used from an arts and crafts store.

I used plasticoat on the orange plastic casing on my old 200T.Just used a primer first then 2 coats of spray on plasticoat.Made it look like a concept saw. Easy enough to do steve and cheap too

I have an older berlingo 10 plate,its a great little run about. I use it for small jobs now and again,its a 1.6 deisel so not so economical but the newer ones are much better on the fuel side of things

As touched on above it would greatly depend on how the timber is extracted,any forestry operations will have an impact on the environment.Many factors to conscider to make it a success,rotational thinning could definetly work in some instances but each case would have to be looked at and worked in a very specific way. No you cant use any type of rope from BQ mate. You need to buy an arborist tree climbing rope from a reputable company. These ropes are specificly made for the purpose of tree climbing and have all the inherant safety measures built in to them. If you had some knowledge of rock climbing and understood how to spot dangerous equipment id say u could practice with a rock climbing rope but your not. Do you know any local climbers in your local area that could give your some tutorage in there spare time? Or contact one of the lads and lasses on these pages who are nearby,maybe they would do you a turn

Looking for a new short rope,my old one is now condemned to being lanyard material. Seen this Stein Scorpius on jonesies,90 sheets for 25 metres. Anyone any experience with this stuff? As i keep my zigzag on my long rope this short one will probably be run with a prussik so i opted for the thicker 12mm. I agree with steve,buy it as you need it-dont buy it just incase you need it.I had a gardening run 4/5 years back,i came from a gardening background into tree work,i had 22 gardens at one point,and i strimmed most of em.Didnt use a lawn mower as i didnt have a van then just a little toyota yaris car.Gets you pretty good at strimming grass,i could strim a bowling green to a perfect finish with a 410. Point is you can over do it with tools,sometimes its difficult to store and carry them all aswell. Just my tuppence

I thought i came up with using a stick and some throwline to pull rope through the zigzag-damn! I have no real knowledge of the ropes available out there so i couldnt comment...it looked smoother through the zigzag than the rw. Cheers for postin Darrin,good to watch on a sunday morning.

Bang on,i need my biners gate facing too the left or i cant open them quickly. Cost would be my first question I have a dmm quad lock lying gathering dust in my lock up,was given it as a freebie with other kit i bought and just didnt like the fact i had too use 2 hands too open it. With a little perciverance i could have been able to manipulate it one handed but ive very little patience for that sort of thing. Wonder if both gates are triple lock

Bowline or biner for lighter stuff and bowline and couple half hitches when it gettin into the weighty stuff. I have used a timber hitch then half hitches couple of times but its a bit of dickin about. Bowline probably the one ive used most

Yeah humbolt upside down gob,try it on the small stuff to practice as its not always good on taking off big tops as it pushs on the stem hard as it falls over and can result in a rodeo derby for the climber-ie you get shaken about a lot.Time and experience will get you to where you want too be mate. Couple of things i clocked,you cut around neck height a couple of times,weve had a death in the arb industry recently due to a kickback in the neck.Please cut in lower in corrilation to your body or spike up higher to cut. I noticed you got the bar pinched a couple of times when choggin down the stem,u had a wedge-why not use it. You can drill a little hole in the wedge and attach some throwline to it and the other end to your harness so you cant drop it. When knocking off tops or sections i find a humbolt is easier to encourage the section to go over,i seen you had problems pushing sections over with your face cut. Dont take it personal just my observations,but please be careful and stop cutting at neck height. Ppe and the stuff mentioned above too but u know that now. Ok just got round to watching this and although i enjoyed watching reg- its not for me. Maybe 50 foot up with a decent view of the deck with no targets under me fine,but 80 foot plus and your rope on your back,i wouldnt do it. I wouldnt have a go at anyone who does this though,as experienced climbers we know the inheriant risks involved. As for rescue climber,in the real world we know self rescue is best,regardless of what HSE say. This is my opinion and reading the previoys replys others dont agree. To each his own.
