  1. Sold it on to a guy who works in an agriculture workshop nearby. It was way down on power but the deciding factor was the hand and arm vibrations on it were very high. It served me well
  2. 555 no good for worrying my sheep then.. Seriously though i thought of the 555 as its got the pulling power i wanted and it seemed at a decent price new compared to others i had looked at. Thing is its not for everyday use just when i get some jobs on in the summer, hence i thought of an older saw. I work for my local authority full time(dont judge me im not a bad person)so all our kit is provided. I own a 150,135 and 261 for use with my company when im busy in the summer months. I think the 044 i had only came out a handful of times last year. Thanks for all your advice, much appreciated.
  3. Yeah dont mind a little drop in power compared to the 044 and as you say parts will be an issue with an older saw.I was lookin at a husky 555 but at 500 notes out the box i just cant justify the price tag.
  4. Im lookin to get a husky as an all rounder, choggin down medium stems and felling mostly. I had a stihl 044 but its bit the dust.
  5. Hi all, Having little experience with husky saws, ive only used the little uns, im lookin for a 60cc saw thats reliable. Recomendations on model please. Id prefer something a bit older rather than out the box. Please no stihl, echo comparative saws. Husky only Thanks in advance
  6. Eh? Whit? Why would you not show images of your own work on your website...

Buy the Tree climbers companion by Jeff Jepsom. It has a lot of helpful information. Jeff Jepsom also does a book on knots but as Mr Bullman says above the arbtalk knot guide is bulletproof. Good luck big guy
  8. I bit the bullet and got the andrews boots.Havent worn them yet just tried them on and they seem a good fit. Thanks again for the input folks
  9. What is it with bloody gypos... Do they not have even a slight conscience. Great result though
  10. When i did my NPTC 30/31 small tree felling i already had a non assesed lantra crosscutting ticket but it didnt crossover so i had to do the whole NPTC course. NPTC is more recognised across the industry as a level of qualification and competence.
  11. I ll cut hedges all day, doesnt bother me as long as others are raking up behind me i'll happily cut all day.
  12. Pretty much common sense, good nutrition proper hydration and rest too look after your body. Dunno about the athlete thing though... To be fair it is American so if you weigh under 20 stone and get off your ass you would most probably qualify as an athlete over t
  13. Ive argued and disagreed with many on this forum about different subjects that were passionate about, but seeing many giving advice and just reassuring others that they are not alone is a great thing indeed. Its threads like this that remind us all how amazing and uplifting arbtalk and those on it can be.
  14. Exercize works for me.Still get down sometimes, same as you mate no reason.comes and goes. I really dont think happy pills help either. Im more of an highs and lows though but only thing that helps me with the lows is the mountains or lifting weights at the gym. Im pretty sure ive some sort of ptsd from my military days but im not sure. I know this probably wont help you any but dont suffer alone. Sometimes it helps to speak to a professional. Dont suffer alone mate
  15. I seen a video on youtube a while back by August Hunike who had designed and manufactured his own speedline kit.It was monkey beaver i think, looked good.
  16. Signed that petition and i couldnt agree with you more, animals are more than pets they are family. Having lost my beloved collie recently im only too aware of the amazing influence they have on us. Really hope that spaniels reunited with his mum and dad soon.
  17. Tried that...only i whispered "your sisters tighter" Same effect though
  18. Im familiar with that... Try reverse cowboy...she does all the work
  19. Someone say pie... Im in! Aint it funny how if someone is seen to be a cowboy tree worker theyre immediatley labeled as a gypo...
  20. Great to see you guys expanding.I order regularly from yourselves and always receive fantastic service. Best of luck in your business expansion
  21. Happens a lot on these pages...
  22. Erm...no i havent. Ive got weird feet and have real difficulty gettin boots that fit properly.I only got the airstreams because they come in half sizes. We dont have any arb shops near glasgow so its not like i could try on any. We ll see
  23. I saw this coming...
  24. Get your basic chainsaw tickets cs 31/32 and chipper ticket possibley even trailer liscence too if you can afford it.Spend a while being groundie.Trust me good groundies are hard to get and hard to keep a hold of. I really would advise you to hang off on the climbing, the kit is expensive and you dont even know if you've good the cojones for it. However if your adamant you want too climb then contact a local tree surgeon(reputable helps)ask to come to his next job and watch him climb. Bribe him with coffee, cake and many many fags, ask him-nicely-if he wouldnt mind takin you a wee climb one day in a local park.If hes in a good mood-this is where the many fags comes in-he'll take you a reccie climb, low and slow is the way to go on your first climb. Good luck You'll need it
