  1. Am i missing something here..? Spike up the stem if the tree's to be removed. If gaffing out is a concern then set an anchor and spike and flipline/lanyard up relying on your anchor should you take a slip.
  2. Can you get a sugihara bar for it perhaps
  3. Yeah we use 441's with 20's at work. Aint got the sheckles to get one those though... Im not desperate at the mo so its summit i'll mull over. Cheers joe
  4. I was hopin something not to go over 10 years old mark.Im conscious of the havs exposure on theze old saws. I was just on fr jones who have a 365 xtorq 20" bar for 437 quid. Sounds a decent price for a 70cc saw
  5. Funny enough i was offered a 365 a while back, just the power unit.It had been rebuilt as its a 2002 model. I trust the guy who built it but i fancy summit a bit newer.
  6. Sold it on to a guy who works in an agriculture workshop nearby. It was way down on power but the deciding factor was the hand and arm vibrations on it were very high. It served me well
  7. 555 no good for worrying my sheep then.. Seriously though i thought of the 555 as its got the pulling power i wanted and it seemed at a decent price new compared to others i had looked at. Thing is its not for everyday use just when i get some jobs on in the summer, hence i thought of an older saw. I work for my local authority full time(dont judge me im not a bad person)so all our kit is provided. I own a 150,135 and 261 for use with my company when im busy in the summer months. I think the 044 i had only came out a handful of times last year. Thanks for all your advice, much appreciated.
  8. Yeah dont mind a little drop in power compared to the 044 and as you say parts will be an issue with an older saw.I was lookin at a husky 555 but at 500 notes out the box i just cant justify the price tag.
  9. Im lookin to get a husky as an all rounder, choggin down medium stems and felling mostly. I had a stihl 044 but its bit the dust.
  10. Hi all, Having little experience with husky saws, ive only used the little uns, im lookin for a 60cc saw thats reliable. Recomendations on model please. Id prefer something a bit older rather than out the box. Please no stihl, echo comparative saws. Husky only Thanks in advance
  11. Eh? Whit? Why would you not show images of your own work on your website...

Buy the Tree climbers companion by Jeff Jepsom. It has a lot of helpful information. Jeff Jepsom also does a book on knots but as Mr Bullman says above the arbtalk knot guide is bulletproof. Good luck big guy
  13. I bit the bullet and got the andrews boots.Havent worn them yet just tried them on and they seem a good fit. Thanks again for the input folks
  14. What is it with bloody gypos... Do they not have even a slight conscience. Great result though
  15. When i did my NPTC 30/31 small tree felling i already had a non assesed lantra crosscutting ticket but it didnt crossover so i had to do the whole NPTC course. NPTC is more recognised across the industry as a level of qualification and competence.
  16. I ll cut hedges all day, doesnt bother me as long as others are raking up behind me i'll happily cut all day.
  17. Pretty much common sense, good nutrition proper hydration and rest too look after your body. Dunno about the athlete thing though... To be fair it is American so if you weigh under 20 stone and get off your ass you would most probably qualify as an athlete over t
  18. Ive argued and disagreed with many on this forum about different subjects that were passionate about, but seeing many giving advice and just reassuring others that they are not alone is a great thing indeed. Its threads like this that remind us all how amazing and uplifting arbtalk and those on it can be.
  19. Exercize works for me.Still get down sometimes, same as you mate no reason.comes and goes. I really dont think happy pills help either. Im more of an highs and lows though but only thing that helps me with the lows is the mountains or lifting weights at the gym. Im pretty sure ive some sort of ptsd from my military days but im not sure. I know this probably wont help you any but dont suffer alone. Sometimes it helps to speak to a professional. Dont suffer alone mate
  20. I seen a video on youtube a while back by August Hunike who had designed and manufactured his own speedline kit.It was monkey beaver i think, looked good.
  21. Signed that petition and i couldnt agree with you more, animals are more than pets they are family. Having lost my beloved collie recently im only too aware of the amazing influence they have on us. Really hope that spaniels reunited with his mum and dad soon.
  22. Tried that...only i whispered "your sisters tighter" Same effect though
  23. Im familiar with that... Try reverse cowboy...she does all the work
  24. Someone say pie... Im in! Aint it funny how if someone is seen to be a cowboy tree worker theyre immediatley labeled as a gypo...
