  1. Jon was the only member my wife asked about...good ol mendiplogs. I miss his posts(not all of them mind you) but he seemed a genuine guy and mostly gave me a giggle. Really hope he and his family are doin well.
  2. Ive buried it into some decent size leaders matty, its impressed me so far
  3. Echo 2511 is supposed to be a great little saw. The 201 is a turd,i use a ported 150,then onto whatever rear handle saw i require.
  4. If its a one off job might be better hiring a machine rather than buying.
  5. Bet it was, looks like an impressive beast, even safer to use since its remote controlled.
  6. If the terrain is really rough perhaps one of these https://m.facebook.com/groups/128622575070?view=permalink&id=10154787195415071
  7. Scag mowers are great on bankings. You can also get a flail version for really rough areas.
  8. Very very very true,a good climber is only as good as the person on the deck lookin after his needs. When you get a good groundie-dont let him/her go,a good team is poetry in motion.
  9. It wasnt the content i took offence to just the sentiment. Colonial mindset. Aaaaand engage SOH again...
  10. Care to explain that last comment
  11. Thing is opinions are relative, for instance you may see me climb and think im a great climber but in my head im not that good cause i work with guys who are more experienced and a lot better than i am. Most people focus on theyre weak points,as you are. Try to focus on your strengths and dont be so hard on yourself. It ll take time but you have the balls to start climbing, not all make it even that far.
  12. Gettin your groundie to send up your rope bag on a biner allows you quickly move your rope.Saves you pulling it through all the time
  13. Yip thesnarlingbadger is spot on,i would also add being good at something takes time and experience and im sure with both you will become skilled and productive. Remember this-speed is not always good, slowly slowly catchy monkey as they say.Ive been climbing around 6 years(i think) and i still get days where things go wrong,or life seems to be conspiring against you.Keep climbing, watch youtube video's, listen and watch other climbers, tutors or workmates. Some people start in the industry early and take to climbing like squirrels or others like me came too it late with passion and determination and make themselves a decent climber. Its difficult to gauge how long it will take you too become proficient but if your climbing regularly with challenging trees it shouldnt take that long id say. Dont be too hard on yourself or try to rush as this is where accidents happen. A wee tip for you is once your in the tree try to plan your next 3 moves, keep ahead of yourself when moving around the crown-this will make you quicker and more productive. Good luck Alex
  14. I was posting keenly earlier in the thread, ive said what i wanted to say on the subject thank you. As for glasgow, yes, much of glasgow as with many other cities is deprived and run down but i dont judge people because of it. Glaswegians generally are funny, warm friendly people but again there are some who give us a bad name, and because of this some down south tar us all with the same brush. Stereotyping is why matelot thinks all immigrants are work shy muslim terrorists. But this has been covered much earlier in the thread..
  15. I speak for myself,i dont speak for any councils thank you very much and im not impressed by the ones you say you speak for. I now conscider my chain pulled.. Doffed cap..
  16. Speak for youself eggs...you dont speak for everyone ya know.Everyone is entitled to voice theyre opinion.
  17. Ive been checkin in regular too keep up kevin...seems to be goin round in circles really.
  18. This thread has disapeared up its own arse... As we say in glasgow 'whit a lot of pish'
  19. Looks like a sore one darrin, glad your ok. I have to say im very guilty of not wearing my lid in tree on the hotter days-which up here in scotland arent that common.
  20. I dont know why you bother....
