  1. Or hire a mewp and avoid all the hassle...
  2. You can move your anchor down as you decend.Choke off on the stem with a bowline and biner leaving a long tail, decend down to half way, lanyard in and push your kees against the stem, flick both ends of your rope bringing your anchor system down to you and repeat till your on the deck
  3. Be careful in chosing your weapon, price is important obviously but remember to conscider the hand and arm vibration exposure. Some of these machines can be brutally high. The tanaka's are very high on havs.
  4. Good waffling
  5. Squeaky bum time.Thats one of the reasons i love arb work, its new challenges to work around.Great vid cheers for posting Reg
  6. As said above there are no totally waterproof jackets unless you get grunden oilskins which would not be practicle. Ive never worn cut and climb as i wouldnt pay the inflated price but i would say ive had a stihl raintec jacket for couple of seasons and its heavy scottish rain proof with zips and vents under the arms to help ventilation. You will still sweat wearing any kind of waterproof, its the nature of our job im afraid.
  7. Cutting at neck height is a biiiig no no
  8. As said above take a good look around, determine what your likely to be doing, how often and how many staff it will take to do so.Factor all your costs, equipment, fuel, wages, tip site etc. This will give you a rough guideline as to what the job will cost you too do. Add a profit margin and that should be your final price
  9. I dunno about the hendra but i know someone who climbs on a yale imori with zigzag and seems like a good rope.
  10. Gotta be the Fast show for me...loved it.
  11. There are plenty here in the UK aswell mate.
  12. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10154793400117557&id=97576797556
  13. Blunt chain is more dangerous,i sharpen my chain, not too do so is just stupid imo. As for 6quid chains...buy cheap buy twice
  14. 10° and pissin wet in glasgow.so the norm then!
  15. New ground lid, husqvarna technical helmet-my other is beyond help...reeks of mature cheddar
  16. The christmas day alaphabet game... Its january and i still dont get it..
  17. Todays job thread... Here's what i did yesterday
  18. I had a little stihl ms 180 that i got for buttons, great little saw,it filled in when the others capitulated. That little saw died a while back...a sad day. Replaced it with a husky 135...an even sadder day...
  19. Exercise memes really get on my tits
  20. Ive seen a cresto harness on treeworker website. Worth a look
  21. Yeah i enjoy what i do for a living, some days can be a stone cold bummer, weather conditions, machines breaking down, members of the public getting on my tits, but all in all i like my job and i wish i had discovered tree work in my 20's
  22. Working for my local authority im well aware of havs and we monitor our daily exposure time. Our limits are 325 per day, which deems our pole saw unusable as it registers 130 per 15 minutes of use. It has made our council look to using battery pole pruners and perhaps even some battery top handled saws. Progress
  23. I cant offer any help unfortunatly but just to commend you on taking a big step in changing careers. I did the same thing and i look at it as the day my life changed for the better and improved my outlook in life. You will gain more confidence in using the chainsaw as you use it daily.Passing the course was a big thing for you but remember its only a certificate of competancey, its not till your using these types of tools everyday that you learn how to use them properly. Qualifications are not the end all be all, what i mean by that is myself, and many other deem certain traits in a co worker too be more important.Personally id rather have someone who is keen, punctual and has a great work ethic than someone straight out of college who thinks theyre Reg Coates cause they have qualifications and climbed 3 trees. If possible get your trailer licence and chipper ticket as these will make you more employable as a groundie. Im sure you will be presented with an opertunity and you'll excell. Good luck mate
  24. Rescue boat on standby incase someone takes a dip perhaps...
