  1. Still got a rop handled 020av power unit in the lock up,it was boggin down on full revs, probably needed a service....they were a nightmare to service
  2. Seems strange that all the saws arent oiling, but the one constant in all this is the oil,as said before perhaps the low temp has impacted upon its viscosity. Id say try another brand of bar oil,its seems the sensable answer.
  3. What make of saw is it mate stihl husky echo etc and what type of chain oil are you using.I ask this cause some are really viscous and some are piss thin.I have read recently-(on facebook so who knows if its true)-someone else was having problems with a sugi bar oiling.
  4. You would think so wouldnt you,its common sense...yet i still get ***** walkin in to the drop zone without lookin up or askin if its ok to do so.With the battery saw it isnt completely silent but its difficult to hear over a chipper or a ground saw at an idle never mind full pelt
  5. I know timon.. Trim away the ivy at the anchor point obviously haha
  6. Or hire a mewp and avoid all the hassle...
  7. You can move your anchor down as you decend.Choke off on the stem with a bowline and biner leaving a long tail, decend down to half way, lanyard in and push your kees against the stem, flick both ends of your rope bringing your anchor system down to you and repeat till your on the deck
  8. Be careful in chosing your weapon, price is important obviously but remember to conscider the hand and arm vibration exposure. Some of these machines can be brutally high. The tanaka's are very high on havs.
  9. Squeaky bum time.Thats one of the reasons i love arb work, its new challenges to work around.Great vid cheers for posting Reg
  10. As said above there are no totally waterproof jackets unless you get grunden oilskins which would not be practicle. Ive never worn cut and climb as i wouldnt pay the inflated price but i would say ive had a stihl raintec jacket for couple of seasons and its heavy scottish rain proof with zips and vents under the arms to help ventilation. You will still sweat wearing any kind of waterproof, its the nature of our job im afraid.
  11. Cutting at neck height is a biiiig no no
  12. As said above take a good look around, determine what your likely to be doing, how often and how many staff it will take to do so.Factor all your costs, equipment, fuel, wages, tip site etc. This will give you a rough guideline as to what the job will cost you too do. Add a profit margin and that should be your final price
  13. I dunno about the hendra but i know someone who climbs on a yale imori with zigzag and seems like a good rope.
  14. Gotta be the Fast show for me...loved it.
  15. There are plenty here in the UK aswell mate.
  16. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10154793400117557&id=97576797556
  17. Blunt chain is more dangerous,i sharpen my chain, not too do so is just stupid imo. As for 6quid chains...buy cheap buy twice
  18. 10° and pissin wet in glasgow.so the norm then!
  19. New ground lid, husqvarna technical helmet-my other is beyond help...reeks of mature cheddar
  20. The christmas day alaphabet game... Its january and i still dont get it..
  21. Todays job thread... Here's what i did yesterday
  22. I had a little stihl ms 180 that i got for buttons, great little saw,it filled in when the others capitulated. That little saw died a while back...a sad day. Replaced it with a husky 135...an even sadder day...
