  1. Hi all - I have stopped doing tree works (turns out office life does suit me better) and now have a load of kit to sell if anyone wants to get in touch. Full climbing kit (LOLER expired) DDRT hitchlimber setup, petzl sequoia SRT harness and Distel spikes. Husky 560xp 15" and 18" bars and T540xp (II) 12" bar. All bought since April last year and not much use - I worked 2 days a week for 4 months, and didn't always use own kit. Shame to sell it but it's just not getting use so if you can give it a better home I'm happy to do a good deal. Would be ideal for a new starter as it's a complete kit (albeit needs LOLER and the saws will want a service as they've been sat for a few months). PM me if you're interested and I'll provide further details. Dan
  2. Hi all - customer in a conservation area has asked me to reduce a big bay tree. About 15-20ft - the layman would call it a tree. Would you advise them to get council consent as in a conservation area, or just crack on as it may technically be a shrub? I think the test is whether it would reasonably be called a tree. I think this would to be fair. Cheers Dan
  3. Cant see an election being called unless Gov can't get things through parliament. If there's an art.50 vote (as I expect) it will get through as most labour MPs will vote in favour (and presume lords - unelected - would wave it through as not wanting to overturn referendum). Great repeal bill may be harder (in lords particularly). I think biggest problem will be getting domestic policy through- e.g. grammar schools. Part of me thinks they'd want Corbyn in charge as long as possible - and he'd surely go after a crushing general election defeat (if the polls can ever be believed again) to be replaced by someone more threatening to tories
  4. Thanks all. Will check out the videos
  5. Thanks NFG - Odd Down, south west side
  6. Think client wants to keep the ivy (albeit I could take bits off here and there if that helped) but will check. Not sure how to choke ring-ring cambium saver other than wrapping it, so couldn't retrieve it? Good advice adding biner into choking knot thanks
  7. Cheers. I'm aware of munter hitch and will learn it but oddly enough it's not taught on climbing course.
  8. Popped in and out of this topic but court generally expensive and a hassle. Would they really go this far or just trying it on? Having said that, I've never been involved in a small claims action.
  9. Yep been keeping an eye on that one. Seems like good advice has been given so I haven't added.
  10. Thanks stihlmadasever; didn't think of that. (Job wouldn't bear cost of mewp and no rear access to garden anyway.)
  11. Hi all I'm new to arb work and have received a lot of helpful advice from posters on arbtalk; thank you. Thought it might be useful to say I'm a commercial property lawyer (3 days a week) and now do arb work part time after 10 years full time in the office. If anyone needs any general advice around property law issues feel free to PM me, or I check arbtalk pretty regularly so start a new topic. (I'm not trying to tout for business - hopefully that's clear). I won't be able to advise on specifics or work on documents etc. but should be able to point in the right direction and be a voice from someone who knows the arb industry. (My knowledge of TPOs and conservation is limited - I've seen replies from other posters more clued up than me on that, but happy to help if I can.) Dan
