  1. He wants it lower so he can push the rope through the spiderjack from above. Your talkin about pulling from underneath with the zigzag
  2. Zigzags are great but if your on a budget hitch climber set up is also very good. All you need is 2 eye to eye friction cords and 2 hitch climber pulleys(either pinto or dmm triple attachments)would do the job. You might want to add 2 cambium savers and some slings to that list.
  3. Some arb suppliers do kits, theyre usually very basic,no frills but all you need too get the job done. Both skyland and fr jones do them if memory serves Maybe better going to your nearest supplier and see if they can do you a deal.
  4. Im sure there are beautiful places that would be soothing for the soul to climb in utility work but i can only judge on my limited experience grounding for 3 days gettin eaten alive by midges...wasnt fun. Id probably feel different if i were climbing though tbf
  5. Im well aware im in the minority on that one..
  6. I filled in as a rescue climber for a groundie who was off sick doin some line clearance up near inverness....no joy in that job...none.
  7. Hardest least rewarding arb work is line clearance....butchering trees for a horseshit sandwich whilst being eaten by midges
  8. Of course you would, but some off us enjoy working our nuts off,or earn more by working our nuts off...different strokes...
  9. I dont think anyones questioning your lifestyle or dening you an easier way of making a living, its more the arrogant way that you come across. Perhaps its unintended but it seems you take pleasure in rubbing peoples noses in the fact you enjoy gettin paid to do very little. I for one would love to have the carefree attitude you seem to portray as having but alas im one of those people who have a conscience and gives a **** about others. To each his own i suppose...
  10. Bounce-as i understand it-is work you get whilst doing your job. For example if your doing a tree in a garden and a neighbour asks you to do there tree aswell-that would be bounce work.
  11. We were issued new silkys a while back and i opted for a gomtaro over the usual zubat.3 weeks later i bought a replacement blade for my zubat. Couldnt get on with the gomtaro...dunno why-to each his own.
  12. Bounce money...double bubble...welfare van... Im not reading anymore...the big vein in my heads about too pop
  13. Council used to be like that until the old guard started retiring. Its a form of being instatutionalised i think. Not for me,im a grafter.I hate sittin around doin heehaw, long draggy days bore the tits off me
  14. Anyone lost a saw in devon area..here's the link https://m.facebook.com/groups/128622575070?view=permalink&id=10154733678755071
  15. I use the app on my samsug galaxy
  16. Totally agree, ive never been let down by a silky, only been kissed once thankfully.Ive taken down 6 inch co doms with my zubat, amazing tools. Also theyre great for building up great forearms...bonus
  17. Fantastic Mr Fox,keep it up-as you know by now fitness and nutrition is a lifestyle not a diet. You've started down a road to inner peace and happiness
  18. Lets put this into perspective,no its not best practice but all we can do is advise the client how to prune the tree, perhaps put a maintenance plan in over several years but with the best intentions some clients just want a tree butchered and theres nowt you can do to talk them out of it.For some reason they think your trying to rip them off by securing future work from them.As said before ive butchered trees for money...i dont like it ,im not proud of it but my morgage gets paid. I sleep well every night.
  19. Pretty piss poor winde up imo
  20. There are merits to both,i made a basic haas with a petzl croll chest ascender with a footloop and some elastic cord.I dont climb srt i only use it on long ascents with my zigzag on ddrt.Haas climbing is effortless so ergonomic.
  21. Still got a rop handled 020av power unit in the lock up,it was boggin down on full revs, probably needed a service....they were a nightmare to service
  22. Seems strange that all the saws arent oiling, but the one constant in all this is the oil,as said before perhaps the low temp has impacted upon its viscosity. Id say try another brand of bar oil,its seems the sensable answer.
  23. What make of saw is it mate stihl husky echo etc and what type of chain oil are you using.I ask this cause some are really viscous and some are piss thin.I have read recently-(on facebook so who knows if its true)-someone else was having problems with a sugi bar oiling.
  24. You would think so wouldnt you,its common sense...yet i still get ***** walkin in to the drop zone without lookin up or askin if its ok to do so.With the battery saw it isnt completely silent but its difficult to hear over a chipper or a ground saw at an idle never mind full pelt
  25. I know timon.. Trim away the ivy at the anchor point obviously haha
