  1. Good luck mate.Weve had issues getting parts from greenmech for our 220,all we needed was a stress sensor but seemed to take a bloody ice age to get it to us. Greenmech dont seem to do anything quickly.
  2. I would only use that method of descent in an emergency situation and yes you can use the zigzag single line with no extra friction in the system, ive seen it done.Is it recommended by petzl-no. Does it place extra stress on the zz links-yes. But in an emergency my last concern would be my friction device
  3. There are some options to descend from a stem on a prussic, single rope. Munter hitch, figure 8 or just wrap the tail round your arse for extra friction as you come down. The latter was mines for ages when i climbed on a prussic.Never had to use it though. In reality chokering your ddrt system was just incase you take a slip
  4. Choker a biner round the stem with zz but in single rope.I just spike down with my flipline on stems but if i had to get down i could on the zz srt
  5. Tree came down safe, everyones happy, dont be to hard on yourself bud. Next time dont second guess yourself. Look at it this way,you could do everything bang on right and something could still go wrong. We dont have control in life, its a falicey! Just control what you can, concentrate on your job and and let the office jockey paper pushers do theres.
  6. One handing is illegal... Im calling the arb police ?
  7. Cant say ive noticed that on mine and i use it for srt sometimes. I ll check tomorrow and let you know. Just out of interest do you do a lot of fast descents?
  8. Yeah used a 560 on a couple of occasions, decent saws although ive been told some of em go pop and die.Hope yours isnt one of them mate
  9. Meals always taste better if someone makes them...wierd! When i need to use the wifes car its ALWAYS nearly out of petrol and i have to fill the bugger up....strange that! My dog jumps up on the bed 2 seconds before my alarm goes off in the morning....very odd! Whenever im skint i can guarentee i get an unexpected bill in the post...inexplicable!
  10. I use my own fuel and tools and everyone gets told to leave the fu*k alone or retribution in the form of ball booting and face smashing will commence. Thats a BIG no no for me,seen to many halfwits abusing saws they dont own so dont give a shit about
  11. I think it would be difficult to say if a ground helmet would have been better. Your alive, your injuries will heal in time. Reminder of how a little lapse in concentration can end in a serious accident. Get yourself well mate all the best
  12. Hearing good things about the drenaline rope. Im still fannying around with zigzag and rope wrench but the liros cord is good Ive been trying the spiderjack 2.1 with the rope wrench which is pretty decent. Ive found the less gear the better with srt just keep it as simple as poss and use the gear u already have. No point goin and buyin expensive kit if u dont get on with it. If im being honest i dont do enough big trees to justify getting all the specialised srt ropes and haas etc I did make my own haas but the bunjee cord snaps quite often so ive stopped fixing it (laziness). Just recently ive tried srt on smaller trees where id normally ddrt and im surprised by how easy it is once it clicks in your head, especially when your not fighting friction on prunes.Rope choice is key though.Im using tachyon and yale on srt both ok i suppose but ive nowt to compere them too.
  13. Nothing bothers me,life in all its glory is wonderful.I take each day as a blessing and thank all the omnipotent deities for the chance to experience life and its its amazing intricacies. Hasnt rained in glasgow for 2 weeks.... I actually think im high...
  14. I die inside with every street lime pollard i have to do...?
  15. Monteray cypress and busy wide canopied cherrys are a bitch. I say cherrys cause ive just had to reduce 6 now that the blossoms dropped. Oh and limes,id gladly rid the country of every one of those epi sproutin bastards.
  16. Shat it a bit when i read the op...then saw the 2014 date...i was about to check my device for fractures. Love the zz,runs well on 12.5mm yale mick if your needing rope a wee bit thicker. Enjoying my spiderjack 2.1 with rope wrench at the mo.Pretty smooth
  17. You can on a synthetics setting but they dry so quick you shouldnt ever have too
  18. Reminds me of a job we had some years back.A youngish couple wanted a couple of maples over the rear fence removed. Our TO gave the go on a prune and canopy lift.We spent a day on them in the winter taking a right good bit of em. Couple of weeks later we were told to go back and tidy up the mess some plonker had made after hacking them back. Long stubs, big rip cuts the lot.Looked bloody awful. The TO didnt persue the couple for damage to the tree. Trees came down.... To be fair they should have been removed in the first place
  19. On small leaning branches not big enough too bore cut you can also do opposing face cuts so the back cut is in a V shape to maximise hinge holding wood.
  20. For the short while on was on the hitch climber i could never get on with the VT. Knut was my hitch of choice
  21. Spring morning walks with my cocker seeing the insects and flies coming up off the grass when she runs around. Any kind of weekend away with the mrs And switching the saw off when were working in the woods and the silence returns...love that.
