  1. Seen this vid on youtube. Looked like a great job mate. Nice one Cheers
  2. Ive given my opinion as i see it. Its not something im going to debate. No offence intended treeation Im out
  3. As mick says we see this sort of situation alot.I agree its a crackin tree,in the wrong place though. I stand by my original recommendation as this tree will just get bigget, cause more neighbourly friction and cost you more money to maintain it in the long run. Good luck whichever way you decide to go.
  4. Repeated work will have to be performed on this tree to prevent it getting out of hand and prevention of neighbourly dispute. Id seriously consider removal at this point as its just going to get bigger and cost you more long term. Damn shame cause its a crackin tree but just in the wrong place.
  5. Dont sweat eggs, hes a bitter old man,we love him but sometimes, like most of us,he can get a bit carried away once he's got the bit between his teeth. Tbf i kinda agree with eggs.... ...but i digress. If this guy wants to call himself an arborist and play billy big balls on his website then thats his perogative, but id say he'll be found out sooner rather than later. Your last post seems a tad presumptious in that you've pressumed the guy with the flash car, sharp suit and office job hasnt earned any of those things when its entirely plausable he's worked his tits off to get those nice things in life. Id spend more time concentrating on your own job/company/reputation than worrying/bitching about others. Thats not meant as a critisism but just an observation from someone who was guilty of doing the same thing. Ive picked up that mic for you... It doesnt belong on the ground ya know ?
  6. I could but i wouldnt. I really dont think i have enough knowledge and experience to be comfortable with the title arborist. Theres still lots of things that im unfamiliar with in this industry including the whole tree biology side of things.
  7. Hmmmm... I cut trees,i maintain trees,im nptc qualified, ive got about 9 years experience in this industry,im passionate about my work, but im not an arborist. I think most companies big themselves up on there website,it may be a bit of billy big time bullshit but its common practice. In the states if you have a chainsaw, denims and spikes your an arborist...true story!
  8. When we pull out of the EU, i wonder if they ll give us our weather back? ?
  9. Hot hot hot hot hot ..... Too hot hot hot hot hot... Gettin sick of this heat... Hot hot hot hot hot..... Im scottish, pale complection and part ginger.... This weather really needs to f☆#k right off now... 18° at night is awful!
  10. Seems to be the opposite up here in sunny central scotland. Lots of good staff but not enough work. I know a couple of really gifted climbers doing forestry just now as theres not enough work elsewhere for em... Seen my regular tree work slow down too
  11. 70/75 is long enough for a knut, which is similar to a distel. It takes a while to match cord/hitch/rope that works the way you want the same as hitch climber setup. Zigzag takes all the fannying around out of it....zz bites everytime on any rope. Just puttin it out there as a consideration for you
  12. Try liros or marlow boa hitch cord. If its eye to eye cord try 75 or 70mm if its boa you tie your own at whatever length suits. I had issues with ocean biting on my 11.7mm tachyon.
  13. Zigzag ? What cord you using mate and what length? Ive used the liros eye to eye, pretty short too, cant remember how long but long enough for a knut hitch.Still had a wee bit of sit back but minimal. It will take some fettling to get it just right.
  14. On the rare occasion i wear type A's its my husky technicals. Some might rubbish them but ive only got type c's to compare them too so they seem light and pretty airy with the vents open. No trousers are goin to keep you cool enough in the conditions weve had lately, just not possible.
  15. If your goin to start climbing best get type c all round protection. Pfanner are the best for quality, hard wearing and a good fit but theyre very pricey. You can get type A and C trousers that are ok but they rarely last so its a false economy buyin a pair of cheaper ones every year. Welcome to the industry bud
  16. Dead poplar, very brittle, shitting a brick the whole time.Taking the top was a bitch cause it had a lean and the saw wouldnt start..? Top went over and as it fell hung on slightly at ine side and the butt end caught my right knee, which made gaff out.Looking back i think i rushed the back cut and created that situation. Lesson learnt-dont rush even if your shitting yourself Choggin down the stem seemed to last forever but it went with no incident thankfully!!
  17. We had an old piece of plum tree in the yard that once dried looked similar to that picture...?
  18. You will never get better advice on here than this. Get a husky 346xp,send it too spud for an overhaul and port. It will then be the best saw you will EVER....... own. Your welcome
  19. 261 at full pelt is a noisey bastard. 18 inch bar quietens it down but then it bogs down....hmf ?
  20. Stubby you've probably forgotten more about husky saws than i know mate. I doff my wee scottish bunnet to you
  21. Takes more than tickets. Ideally id always hire a person with 2 years experience and a small tree felling and chipper ticket before someone straight out of college with all the tickets up to cs39 and no experience. If it was me id say get small tree felling and chipper tickets then get a job in the real world. I really dont see the point in spending 2 grand on courses when in the reality working with a firm could open her eyes and she may not like it. No one goes from college to a lead climber job so she will have to cross cut, drag and chip to prove herself before anyone gives her a chance to climb. If she sticks in,works away and turns up everyday on time she will get her chance at climbing
