  1. As good as the 241 is its not a 242xp...different beast altogether
  2. Great saw,as said above great power to weight ratio,14 "bar is optimum
  3. Good result, sometmes the smaller prunes can be more of a challenge getting out on tips, getting good anchor points etc.
  4. Hmmm, looks all shiney... I dont think this is the finished article, looks too fragile. Whats more important is why waste time and money on manufacturing a competitor for the wrench when you could design a srt device to compete with the hh,unicender etc. By the time they get it perfected and onto the market it ll be outdated!
  5. Keep fighting gary.Thoughts are with you bud.
  6. Thought oxymoron was a fancy term for idiot...
  7. Id agree that the lowerable base tie scenario is practically useless in my mind.So many variables could render it futile in the event of the climber having a serious accident. Im a bit of a shit bag when it comes to base tieing,i prefer to top tie. Seen one of the lads take a big drop on a base tie when a branch or fork his rope was over gave out. Jolted his back and scared the bejesus out of him and us,only dropped about 4 meters but enough to hit home the implications of firing a throw weight over the top and base tieing. Bounce tests can place extra strain on forks too.Something to consider...
  8. Id echo (no pun intended) what matty said.I use a 150 regular and even though its timing advanced and bored exhaust it still has its limits. The 2511 is a saw that can be used for takedowns. In an ideal world id have both, and remember to get the 150 sprocket, bar and chain on the echo as the standard chain is too aggresive
  9. Weve got chainsaw kilts up here in scotland... Wouldnt match up with the flip flops though..
  10. I agree with you on the breathflex pretty shite. I use husky technicals type A with vents at the back.I dont climb everyday in the summer months so its hard to judge how they would hold up to rigorous daily abuse. Pfanner do good trousers some of there type A's have vents.Pricey though, very pricey
  11. Hmmm.... sweet or buttered...decisions decisions....
  12. Rereading my post it does come across as a bit aggressive,no offence intended. Im not offended either thanks.?
  13. My mate sometimes helps me out with groundwork and has a pair of those rocwood chainsaw chaps. Pretty decent for the price and seem toolast.
  14. Why is this relevant? This is an arb forum,i could care less about rock climbing, difficult or not. Some rock climbing equipment crosses over into arb but the similarities end there.
  15. Ok so you deserve a decent answer although i stand by my previous ones. Get your basic chainsaw ticket, chipper ticket and CE+1 towing. All very handy too have. Heres the tricky bit,get in with a good firm, not any firm but a good one who are progressive, willing to invest in you and can offer you a future-not just brash drag monkey. There arent many firms like the above description but there are some.It will take a while to adapt to the job, hope your good at working in the cold, wet soggy dirty conditions cause you will be. Id say 75% of arb work is pretty repetative but the other 25% is what gets you out of bed in the mornings. The times ive climbed big trees on the sunny days in spring and summer i could count on one hand yet look on youtube and those vids are everywhere. I paint a rosey picture,i know, but if you go into this industry with your expections set at a realistic level then theres more chance of you sticking in and doing well. Most newbies want to climb after 2 weeks cause they think they know all the ground work, wrong! There are many great climbers out there but very few great groundies, climbing aint for everyone but if your keen then get aloft asap, even on your own in a park stay low and take your time. I really hope you do well.. I really really do... Best of luck mate
  16. Dont..... Do it.... Hard shitty work...... No money.......
  17. Dont do it...get a real job....arboriculture is shite....no money in it anymore cause every fckn tom dick and harry are quoting stupid prices just to get work. Seriously...dont....do.....it!
  18. Yeah apparently, but personally i wouldnt gamble on one. Our 2x 261's are older models but i know a bloke who got a newer one and says its a belter!
  19. A good 261 will pull a 18" no bother but i love a 261 on 16" bar full chiz chain,great little saw.
  20. Really??? I was in the forces myself many years ago, digging holes in the woods training for section attacks was great, as was shitting in those holes and leaving em for the next section ?
  21. Your not a man till you've shat in the woods with midgie bites on your bollocks... Toilets in the forest, wheres the fun in that!
