  1. This is a machine that a landscaper I do bits for owns. Single roller but very capable, decent crushing power, maybe 4.5 in capacity. 20hp petrol engine. I've used a lot of chippers, and usually turn my nose up a bit at the smaller (25hp and under) ones. This one impressed me though. He gets a lot of work done with it, seems bombproof as well.
  2. Ahhhh, that's good news, the guy that works for me is an expert welder, just got to get the roller out now. Thanks, I'll call them Monday.
  3. A whole roller is not the end of the world I guess. The four torque bolts at the other end are reluctant to let go and are now rounded out! I'll have to get it to an agricultural engineers to get it out, I might as well give them the new roller and tell them to put it in as well. The spline in the hyd motor is easily replaceable. Thanks Ian.
  4. Hi guys, bottom roller on the GM stopped the other day, so we whipped out the hydraulic motor and the splines are worn but the real wear is the inside of the roller, the "inside splines" have worn to almost nothing. We're having trouble getting it out, but that's another story, what I'd like to know is does this mean the complete replacement of the roller, there looks like an inner shaft that could slip out and be replaced saving the cost of the whole roller. Attached is a picture of the roller, you'll see what I mean. Does this piece slide out or not? Thanks for the help in advance. Mick.
  5. Interesting, but no, doesn't quite work for me.
  6. Yes Felix, that's what I was thinking, but the worms in my head wouldn't stop wriggling long enough.
  7. I thought they stopped making them because they couldn't meet euro safety standards, side impact and all that stuff. Some funny stuff on here, especially Growforest. The file of old invoices, yeah I had one of those, I prefer not to go through or think about it, too painful. Still, I did have a Def, so that's ticked off the list.
  8. No harm in that, consensus is hard to find on a trade forum. We all do stuff that taken in isolation, without people having reference to what the client demanded, and photographed and put on the internet would look less than ideal. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar.
  9. Yeah I know, you were hoping for everyone to tell you what a conscientious pro you were, and for a general head-shaking about or standards of tree trimming. Life's difficult to understand isn't it?
  10. You have to laugh, "responses like mine that have let it get like it is" so I'm responsible for poor tree work in London and old people getting ripped off. Go on then, follow your conscience, park your truck outside the council offices, take some photos of the perpetrators while you're at it and report them for "crimes against trees" While you're at it tell 'em about the Gippos and the Froggys see how that goes down at the diversity office.
  11. You asked for advice/opinions, I gave mine. If it's not what you wanted to hear, that's the risk you take
  12. Nice work Jonny, but if there's one thing I wouldn't do is cut down capacity.
  13. It's a pity but there you go, worse things happen.
  14. Why? Get a book and get busy. Why do you need a course?
  15. The one on the left seems happy to see you.....
  16. Ha ha, there's a name from the past! I'll pm you.
  17. Oh purleeeese! If the groundsmen have to drag it around a house etc, then a team of Usain Bolts isn't going to keep up with a three toed sloth up a tree.
  18. Start with the 3.5/750kg chipper, see how it goes, it's a big leap straight to the lorry.
  19. I know Joe, I'm mellowing. This tree represents the 1% of specimens that really deserve protection and/or very specific pruning targets.
  20. Bloody horses! That's right, burn em out.
  21. Nice, Whilst normally I'd say go ahead and get at it, I'd say that a third off that is a bit harsh, it's a bit too significant/special to do that. Hurts me to say it though!
