  1. I would be more offended that they got another contractor to do the tree work. I don't really believe your stories about mass tree removal one year after pruning.
  2. Colleges pump out countless young men (and women) for whom this work is seen as a glamorous lifestyle choice. As long a there is a glut of these people willing to work for the same money I was working for 20 years ago wages will be low.
  3. Doesn't matter whether he watches it or not, if he's self employed, war hero or Oscar Schindler, if he can recieve the bbc he has to pay his tv licence. Unless he lives in France of course!
  4. Go out tomorrow and get the licence.
  5. So you just reverse for a second and go again?
  6.:crazy:Seek help. They may be clean, but I feel a little dirty seeing that photo.
  7. How can I put this? You're talking out of your rear end.
  8. Ummm, interesting about the jamming.
  9. Nice truck. How do you like the 190? I know it's bigger and more powerful than your quadchip but is the difference just nice or epic?
  10. That's how I understood it. (The height of the hopper I mean)
  11. Classic set up, tipper,chipper,4wd. Looks good.
  12. Repollard or at least create new higher pollard points a metre or so above which will enable you to create some kind of shape. Ash will respond well to this treatment. Pay no mind to the "fell and replace with something appropriate" brigade
  13. I guess the fact I have to wear reading specs to sharpen, may have saved me from that.
  14. I like the saw at least on the back of the pick up so I can inspect each tooth after I've done it, and check the depth gauges at the same time. I've done it in my lap like Steve but it can nick you trousers and without being able to look closely, especially when you're rescuing a rocked chain as opposed to a tickle, results can be mixed. Each to their own of course.
  15. I have never had filings in my eye from sharpening a saw, or heard of anyone who had it. Too close? Please explain.
  16. Not quite, things vary from country to country. All tree surgery stuff and vehicles are horrendously expensive here (France) in comparison to the UK.
  17. I like the vertical saw in the tree idea.
  18. One of those tap in vices on a piece of wood. The trouble I find with sharpening on your lap is that ones trousers can get a rip on the right thigh.
  19. Listening to Radio 2 atm, paying tribute to him.
  20. I think it's hits home harder as we get older and people we grew up with pass away, I remember in 1974 an 11 year old in the car with my mother driving to school listening and laughing with Wogan in the morning. When he didn't do Children in Need I thought it must be serious.
  21. Get one of those Big Shot Catapault things.
  22. You could get a decent used TW150 for that money, what would you rather own?
