  1. Interesting read. Well done on chasing the quotes, something I’ve never got round to, but should.
  2. M’y brother did a bit of a road trip to Russia a couple of years back. Said the cities like Saint Petersburg and Astrakhan were fairly impressive. Nearly everywhere in between was fairly grim, god awful roads, you couldn’t drive at night because you couldn’t see the potholes which would destroy your vehicle. People living in medieval conditions in the countryside, really poor infrastructure. Once he crossed the border into Poland from Ukraine on his way back it was like he was in Germany (his words) lovely straight well surfaced roads, nice houses etc. One of the reasons he’s a big fan of the EU. You don’t wonder why the Ukrainians look west and want some of that.
  3. I did a search using ‘heave’ on thread titles. Lots of threads talking about risk of etc. But I couldn’t find any genuine cases of it.
  4. The school where my nephew and niece go changed the name of a wing of the school from the JK Rowling wing to something else because of what she has said. Madness.
  5. Let’s start with what you pay your employees and how much you charge them out at? Then we’ll see how we go.
  6. That’s a good point, any science sorts on here got an explanation? In fact heave is one of those things that you read and hear about, but I don’t think I’ve seen a single verified case on here.
  7. In answer to both your questions. No.
  8. Do you ever use the ‘pusher’? Ours got put in the shed from day 1
  9. He’s got a chainsaw now!
  10. Talk about poor planting!
  11. Very good. I forget who it was but someone pointed out that if you come on here looking for advice about what truck to get, you get very earnest replies from people telling the OP that they really need everything from a 20 tonne grab lorry down to a bicycle and a bowsaw combo.
  12. Took 7 months to arrive, but it’s here.
  13. Sycamore? Skillful work, not easy to do. Waste of time.
  14. Put some pics up J. Helps us get a wide on.
  15. London plane, nicely pleached/pollarded for shade. Good work.
  16. My Cocker Charlie was a rehoming, lovely nature, trust her with children or anyone, never heard her growl at a human. Food was an issue and her obsession. She would not look backwards if I was being dragged into the pits of hell if the devil put a bacon sandwich in front of her! Loved coming to work in the van as much as Igor.
  17. That’s a shame, love cockers!
  18. Looks ok to me, on the pricey side to say the least though.
  19. It’s an all round wanker of a tree.
  20. Looks like an Ailanthus (a bit)
  21. Precisely, don’t contact anyone at the council, just walk away.
  22. Unless you’re getting crazy money for it, walk away.
  23. Mine arrives next Thursday, here it is in the garage getting its PDI. Six Speed auto, with paddle shift when heavy towing. Getting excited! I can honestly say my knees gave way a bit when I first saw it.
