  1. That's interesting, surely it can't always work like that. What if you can't access the tree if their not in. I'm guessing if you book in jobs like that you can't be working through houses in city's much? Sounds like a nice way to work if I could though.
  2. Eat what you like and enjoy your life. Unless the doctor tells you otherwise .
  3. Nice read. Always amazes me how much went on in the war and how many stories there must be. Thank you for sharing.
  4. Sounds mad but cut a lemon in half and leave it in the waggon. It's meant to suck up any bad smells.
  5. What I'm saying is we have an aerial rescue plan in place to save someone from a big open tree and that is great. But unfortunately the likelihood is that you will have an accident on a day to day job with poor access to the climber.
  6. Haha I'm not on about a huge tree but if you have a tangled tight conifer. And someone needs to be rescued what do people do, surely if it is a life threatening situation you need to think fast and get someone down on the deck quickly. What do people do in these situations?
  7. One of my favourite tracks. But I am also a big ska reggae and punk fan too. [ame] [/ame]
  8. In that instance you give them the benefit of the doubt as soon enough you will find out if they are taking the piss or not. It's unfortunate but these things happen. If it continues to happen then sack them off but if you sack them off straight away you may have just lost a bloody good worker.
  9. Good luck to Nikki latter on today mate. I'll be watching. 😊
  10. I know a lot of people that will run an Aries rescue training day once a year to keep the lads in check. But what I fine mental is that you are more likely to have a bad accident in a crappy conifer tree/hedge that you reducing and there is no plan put in place for that. If such an accident occurred what would people do/have done? I guess you would cut someone out let them fall to the ground and hope for the best. Any thoughts on this?
  11. Haha brilliant, Stefan's last quote was defiantly bordering on insanity. But I still think his outlook on working life is fantastic.
  12. I think we are going to have to wrap david attenborough in cotton wool this year.
  13. Those I do take my hat off to stefan and Silky fox for there positive attitude towards work and must say I do fine the 'Silky thread' a huge inspiration when I have had a crappy day. Thanks for that guys.
  14. I enjoy my job but notice the longer I have been in the industry the more I look forward to my time off. There are definitely jobs I love (a big reduction or a big rigging job). But no one is going to see me jumping for joy when I see an overgrown conifer hedge covered in bramble to reduce by 50% and 'trim'. More money for those jobs and I might not be swearing as much though. 😊
  15. I do know it says national but traveling to john'o'grots to drop off some cones.
  16. What kind of area were you looking at covering?
  17. Sorry just saw 'the tree in question' under the photo :-/
  18. Another point is that she excepted full responsibility for these actions. Now does that mean she would not give up the contractor, did not know the contractor or there was no contractor and it was a friend or family member that did the work? I don't think it even mentioned a contractor in the articles, we are just going off a picture that could be some random working on a different tree. If someone is being prosecuted for acts like this and they say I didn't know the workers or their company name then the butt is going to land on her.
  19. I hate wearing them too but bottom line is they have to. I've worked with people who moan like mad about them an take any chance they get to take them off but the be all and end all is no hi vis no work. May be worth asking them if they want to look and see what hi vis shirts are about and put it to a vote. Just a thought.
  20. Think you get a speed course and fine if it's below 96. Anymore and it's court and points. I know that mobile cameras are not 100% accurate as I know of plenty of people who got caught and thought there speed was higher than what it actually turned out to be. Fingers crossed you get lucky mate. Failing that phone up the number on the letter and start effing and blinding, I'm sure they'll forgive you ;-)
  21. I thought you only needed records or a techno if you were vent wrong more than 100k of your base? That's what I got from the gov website. Any input on this?
  22. Haha yeah it would kind of put a spanner in the works
  23. Just wanted to pop a quick update on this. The job has been put on hold due to the circumstances, but I'll let you guys know when I do do it, will get pics too :-).
  24. Haha, a real insight to a climbers mind (after being on the job long enough), what the hell am I doing up here when I could be in the pub. Great video, nice to know I'm not the the only one who has days like that.
  25. Ditto but then if that's the case, I pop 'bring flask on the job spec'
