  1. They are awesome bits of kit. Can't fault then at all. I always find you feel it will hold whatever is rigged off. I have been up the tree and taken some huge chunks out knowing full well it will be up to the task.
  2. Level 4 is a big step up from level 3 and very technical, I would advice speaking to people who are doing it or have done it. But your right no point in throwing money at a level 3 if you want to be going on to level 4 straight after. But I'd prepare yourself for an intense course
  3. Haha may have to use that one
  4. Ahh good to know. Thanks mate.
  5. Something like this (excuse the crap drawing skills)
  6. I was always under the impression that you should prune magnolias after they flowered. Some flower in spring and some in summer. With regards to where to cut to I'd bring the stem on the right (nearest the house) back to the growth point midway up to take it back from the house (where it kinks off) and the rest reduce only by a few feet, it will leave the tree a different shape but needs must I suppose. That being said I would need some more pictures to see the my idea would look alright or downright silly.
  7. I forgot to post the vague results from my week off milk and my week on milk. I decided to drop it down to a half pint of milk on the second week as opposed to the full pint originally proposed. The work I had for both weeks was pretty similar bar a Wednesday in the first week where I had a flat out day rigging down a big pine and bumping logs with a big drag once I got out the tree, till about 8 pm. To be honest I didn't notice any real change in aching of muscle or strength the next day. But I still find a glass of milk bloody refreshing after a slog of a day. ;-)
  8. Id say with money back guarantee it's worth a try.
  9. Bark*
  10. Not Eucalyptus urophylla is it? I know the back is a little rougher on this species.
  11. Happy birthday mate. Hope it's been a great day
  12. If the red robin you planted is dying as well I'd be inclined to think it is bad conditions of some sort of fungus (maybe not as I need to lean more in this area). But how are the other plants/trees doing in the area?
  13. Hold on if you are 100% certain you had nothing to do with the bending of this bar why are you even asking? I'd maybe meet them half way for the cost of the bar if they are a friend, and because they were nice enough to lend it to you. A big bar will eventually bend over time anyway, they can't pin it all on you unless it is at a bloody right angle. Hope this helps
  14. Ahh brilliant thanks for the post. Some stunning specimens in that lot.
  15. That might make for a more amusing thread.
  16. Not me but a work mate got a brand spanking surf board. A neat short board and exactly the kind of one I was on the look out for at the time. Apparently the customer brought it and decided surfing wasn't there cup of tea so just gave him the £400 board for free. Gutted I wasn't on the job with him, there may have been a fight over it though 😄
  17. These puns are kraken me up...
  18. I'm just saying giving more emphasis on the fact that particular tree is likely to come down is never a bad thing. Surely if an app was refused and then if the contractor phoned up and said he has been asked to take the tree down even though an app has been refused then the fine may be less lenient. Not sure how it all works if I'm honest.
  19. I'd say use a metal container of some sort to stop the squirrels achieving their goal. As for finding it the next morning paint it a bright colour (it'll help a little I'm sure). Not sure how the throw line can hit you in the face if I'm honest but we may be talking about different throw lines.
  20. You'd have to get bloody accurate with a drone I'd say. But sounds like a good idea.
  21. Agreed, the problem is too many people nowadays will quite happily pay the fine. But if the tree officer is informed before hand they can't play the 'I didn't realise it was TPO'd' card. Need to do what we can to protect our trees and especially the ones of significance.
  22. Well said mate. We're all grown ups here, we should act like it.
  23. Best Video I have seen in ages. I can't tell if it's a spoof or not either but I'm hoping not. That chainsaw holder is incredible haha
  24. The flexibility is a bonus though in my opinion. But I do like the idea, recycling it would be a nightmare though.
  25. I was looking for something more flexible. But I have looked at stokbard. Thanks for the input
