  1. That's will be an interesting read, I scanned through it but will take time to read it a bit more shortly. I was aware of this but then I was aware red meats and many other foods/drinks increase the risk of cancer, my view on it all is I am not going to stop eating and drinking the things I like just because of a sight increased risk of cancer. I could give up everything and still get cancer and I would have spent years avoiding the little pleasures in life to find out the worst has happened anyway. Not saying eat nothing but junk, just do things in moderation, I have a pretty valences diet at it goes. With regards to the milk, I'm willing to try it out just to see if there is any kind of truth in it. I'm not having a go, just putting my views across. Plenty of People smoke 40 a day and increase there risk of lung cancer and they don't even enjoy it.
  2. Well I can always force feed work mates milk and run extensive tests but I think that may be pushing it a little far
  3. It tends to be pretty similar work loads day in day out for me (flat out form 7-6). I'll even write to jobs and finishing times in if you like. Worth doing a test. I'll start next Monday with no milk.
  4. This is true, I'll keep a sceptical mind with it all
  5. Interesting, I must admit I can quite happily down a pint of milk after a day's work (find it really refreshing). I will go a week without any after work and then one week necking a pint after a day and see if I notice any different. Will keep you posted.
  6. Been looking for a second hand Jenny 530 road tow chipper and have come across a couple but one of them has 2 pics on the add, and one of the pics has a pull down hopper and the other doesn't. Ideally I want one with a pull down hopper as its what I'm used to and like but was just wondering why some do and some don't? Was it a specific set of years where Jensen decided not to put them on. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks people.
  7. I was also looking for chippers with them, never thought to ask on here for feedback though. Just out of curiosity John have you brought a chipper from them? Did you have any issues? If so what were they like if a problem did occur? Thanks
  8. This is a good point and one to consider when climber. Also another thing that got my confidence up in the beginning was my tutor telling me that on average a tree can hold 4.5 times its own weight, so they are strong buggers. This changes from deferent species but I have rigged some big lumps out of pops in the past and never had a mishap (touch wood), and they are about as week and brittle as you can get.
  9. Your not being pathetic mate, your being cautious, it's a good thing (a very good thing). If you don't have a little fear then you have accidents. I'd say if you've only been climbing a few months it's normal to feel a little worried and check your kit more often than normal, especially if your being asked to get up some bigger or riskier trees. Don't compare yourself to other climbers because everyone has a different way of doing things and different years of experience. But you should learn off them. I've been climbing several years and still learn new tricks and ways of doing things even from people less experienced. Speed will come with time and is not important at the moment.
  10. I don't really suffer from any fear of the job myself, other than the odd dodgy or big tree, but I'd say it's not definitely a bad thing as it's always best to be safe. How long have you been climbing? It may just be linked to the amount of time you have been climbing or if you have had a near miss etc etc. Like I say it's never a bad thing to make sure your safe.
  11. now thats sexy
  12. Not to bad for a Saturday then. That's a hell of a lot of chip for a pop though. Good stuff
  13. Good stuff mate, nice to see a bit of a tricky one done well. Good tune too.
  14. Good stuff mate. How long did that one take. Not to long on a Saturday I hope.
  15. Worked in a call centre when I was about 16 for 1 hour, the guy who was training me put on a voice like Dracula on one phone call and was a complete and utter nob, who was either full of cocaine or had some serious anger problem. I got up to go for a slash and he started shouting abuse at me, I walked out completely gob smacked. Saw him about 3 years later outside a pub drenched in his own sick and thought "looks about right".
  16. Both good, no complaints my end but I know the arbortec trousers may not be the right fit for everyone. I'm a skinny little git so they suit me down to the ground. As mentioned before I think the Mendel boots work better for climbers at they where out pretty quick on the deck.
  17. I'll look in to it. Thanks mate
  18. Haha I'll give it a go then
  19. I'll look in to it but are you sure it's photo editing software. The title seems a bit dodgy to me
  20. Thanks Steve. It's looking a lot less of a problem already. I will spend some time looking though these sites and see if anything pops out at me.
  21. Nice one mate. Not a bad starting point. I'll look in to getting photo shop as it's something that I've been meaning to do for a while anyway. Thanks
  22. Right I am getting all the little things together for my business venture and have come to a bit of a stop sign. I have got my company name and have bounced a few ideas around for a logo but nothing is looking right (I am a terrible artist). I'm just looking for a little advice in this area, what people did to get there logo? I would like to avoid spending the best part of a grand on something like this but I fear going down the graphic design route may be my only option :-/. As I'm just starting out maybe it is something I can hold off for a bit but I'd like to get some business cards made up and think is maybe best to get the logo out there and stuck in people's minds early on. Any ideas, what did you guys do when you were setting up shop? Thanks in advance people.
  23. This is something I was thinking about the other day. People often rush, see the tree and get climbing as opposed to get the signs and cones out properly and set up site before even putting on a harness. I've worked with lads who think it's alright not to bother with any of that and think it's alright to be chipping up on a main road without a hard hat on. Winds me up, if there is an accident they don't have a leg to stand on. Another way of looking at it I suppose is that if you and your company do everything by the book and look the part Joe public will notice your not a bunch of Cowboys and you'll be the one that will get the call when work needs doing.
  24. Get wet, moan like mad and have a go at the groundsmen for having cups of tea when I can't. Slip about a on wet branches a bit, moan some more then have a piping hot shower when I get in.
  25. That would be an interesting read, do you think there may be some kind of archive on the net for those sorts of articles? I know it's a long shot.
